FOR CATHOLICS ONLY: I just wanted some general information on the Blessed Heart of Mary. We've all seen the stained glass windows in the church with her arms held out and her heart shining. What is the purpose of the Blesed Heart?

The reason I ask is because I was with a non-Catholic friend yesterday and we were browsing an antique store. We came across a beautiful picture of the Blessed Heart of Mary with a dagger through it. My friend asked what the picture was and I promptly responded, "That's Mary and her most Blessed Heart." When asked why there was a dagger through her heart, I was unable to reply. Can anyone tell me the story behind this? How did Mary's "Blessed Heart" come about, and why is it so important?

To those of you who believe in a fallen church, how is it possible that God allowed his church to become so corrupted? Was it the devil's doing, part of God's plan to restore his church, or simply bad human beings?

Wouldn't the better argument for free will and choosing a Godly life be if there WASN'T eternal damnation looming as the alternative? Wouldn't a more sublime arrangement have no apparent negative consequences for rejecting God so that those actually choosing to beleive in Him would be making an uncoerced decision for the purest of reasons?

I work in live stage theatre, I usher the shows and sell tickets. My employer is paying all of us our regular wages to take first aid and CPR (in canada)
However during the upcoming season she is thinking of making a policy in which one person each evening is "responsible" for responding to any first aid emergencies.
This seems to put alot of pressure on a person (like me) that in a real emergency situation wouldn't be able to keep my cool and remember how to do things properly.

I've been trained in first aid before, and I've been on the site of emergencies before (I was the emergency once.... hehe broken leg:P
I don't handle those situations well. They frighten me and I've always had someone else to pass the first aid responsibility to.

I'm wondering if my employer is able to give me this responsibility without my consent?

after getting abuse from a prior question why should i be made to feel sorry for working girls. no-one forces them to do what they do..and if they do it cos they are on drugs..well thats their own fault isnt it? there are lots of jobs out there..even a idiot can work as a cleaner or in a shop. yes some may come from other countries and be forced into it..but then how silly do u have to be to think someone will take you to another country to get a normal job? i mean those girls are just foolish. at the end of the day im 100 times better then a working girl and i dont see why i should have to be made to feel bad for thinking that! so whats your thoughts?

I quote this answer from a question I posted moments ago:

"Dismiss what beliefs? As an atheist, you believe in nothing. I don't know how to take "nothing" seriously. If you believe there is no God, then fine. But how do you expect people to take your beliefs seriously when you don't believe in anything spiritually?"

Atheism is, by definition, a lack of belief in God(s)/deities. This does not insinuate that we believe in nothing or hold no beliefs what so ever. I, personally, am a spiritual atheist. The Buddhist religion is a non-theistic religion but still holds spiritual beliefs for example. Do you think that simply because we do not prescribe to religious dogma or believe in personal gods and deities that we hold no beliefs at all?

It seems that many confuse atheism with nihilism. Please read the below definitions:

Just like to see what people would say regarding this. I personally would say Hell for an hour because with a glimpse of Hell it may help me live a better life and not be so cynical and melancholic about life. Why would you choose one over the other if you were ever given a choice?

I've asked this once before, but I don't think I've made myself clear. I need to know what the paper is called that they hand you when you walk in - the bulletin or program kind of thing, like they would give you at a church service. Its not the Eulogy (thats the talking), its not the obit (thats in the paper typically), its not the epithaph (thats on the headstone), its not the Order of Programming (I don't even know what that is - but someone said it).

There is a specific name for the 'program/bulletin' thing for one at a funeral.

Thanks for your help!

Should I be careful? I met this guy online in June.We have been dating eachother ever since.Lately he has?
began telling me that he wants me to move to his city. We live only 30 min away from each other.I dont have my own apartment because I have to help my grandmother, she wants me here.He has been looking for apartments in his city for me.The rent is really high where he lives. Why does he want me to just pick up and move there to be with him.The only help that he has offered is to rent a car and help move my belongings from here to there. He said that I am always coming to his place and he doesnt want to come to mine because it is too far.Could he be abusive?
Is this a warning?
Should I be carefull?
Does this mean that he wants to get married?Should I be carefull?
I'm torn. I have been dating this man for about two months now.Lately he has been telling me that he wants me to go to Arizona in November to meet his family,friends,everyone.H... and I live here in California and he wants to move to New York with him next year.He asked me last weekend if I can have children.I'm a little hesitant because he has a really BADDD temper. He got mad at me and punched the wall.We went on an outing to the park. I told him that I needed to go to the bathroom. When I got back from the bathroom he showed me his camera. He had followed me and took pictures of me as I went to the bathroom aal the way until I went inside.I remember stopping to talk to a lady about her dog,he took pictures of that too.Am I jumping to conclusions or should I be carefull
