and be a completely different person inside that body

This is just like dieing and reincarnating back
without having to go through having mobiles over your crib and learning colors names and ABCs and 1, 2, 3 all over again.
so yes it is very very near

Not in the common use of the phrase, no. But we humans are the only animals that "contemplate" or worry about death, so it's pretty darn close.
