you feel that you have to answer questions directed to christians. If you truly do not believe, then why do you talk about Him so much ?

I got tired of the other section in Society & Culture, so I thought I'd come here to visit. There was so much racism, and "I don't care if I offend you," and I hate all censorhip, and blah blah blah...

I was wondering if the more mature generation had these same issues or if things get more peaceful with age?

Thanks : )

Have you examined the Tanakh and don't believe He meets the prophecies, or does it have more to do with Rabbinic tradition and Talmudic religion? What would you have to see in the Tanakh to believe He might be the Mashiac?

To those who disregard Him because of tradition, why do you feel that tradition is so important in deciding what is truth? Also, why do you feel that Mishnah, Talmud, etc. has authority to rightly interpret Torah?

I am usually in the R&S section, and one of my favorite characters to answer to is John. He may have the logic of something that would get me reported if I said it, but I love to read the responses and come up with my own answer to disprove his steel shell of Christianity. Do you do something like this? Atheists rule.

C'mon. Do you really think Ghandi is in hell? Or if the Dali Lama died today he'd face eternal damnation?

What about a muslim child who dies of a cancer?

Or an African non-Christian adolescent who dies of AIDS?

How about the countless millions of jews, buddhists, and hindus who have led good lives, and tried to follow the teachings of their religion and their God? Do you really think those folks are in Hell?

I have serious doubts that any of the above mentioned are there.

God probably has all sorts of plans for people to get to heaven.

Aren't good jews, muslims, and buddhists following Christ in a round about way? Most of the world's religions do preach the same basic moral teachings.

I am a Christian. But I just have a really hard time with the idea that only Christians go to Heaven.

What do you think?

I see a lot of people tell on here that it is the one unforgivable sin, and yet it bothers me when I see some that have the wrong definition about what that is...

The Bible is clear on what it is.

The religious leaders had come out to hear Jesus speak and when He begin to cast out demons the leaders were so blind that they said the Holy Spirit was the power of Satan. They told Jesus and the people that He wasn't the Son of God but Satan's Agent... (Matthew 12:24, and 31)

So if you are worried or every think that you have commited the unforgivable sin then you haven't commited it. If anyone today has commited the sin, it would be one who is hard-hearted, who has turned against Jesus Christ, reviled Him, and become so depraved that he would claim that God's Spirit is Satan.

As a fellow christian, what are your thoughts about what I have said?

is retarded. Now I tend to be a bit more liberal than conservative, but this New Age movement, which unfortunately is heavily associated with the left, is even more idiotic than the Christian fundamentalism practiced by the right. I went to this New Age convention and they were doing astrology and tarot card reading and all kinds of crazy things that I don't even have names for. I am convinced that no matter whom you make friends with or what political or religious organizations you ally yourself with, there will always be really stupid people within the group you join that give you a bad name.

I stopped working on my Dr.'s advice in Nov. of 2005 for a mental disorder because the stress of my job environment was too much. I was getting treatment throughout 2006 for this disorder and did not work, tried going back to work in Jan of 2007, had to quit again for the same reason in April. Filed state disability in May and was informed that my "base period" in 2006 showed no earnings, so no denial but no award amount either... Limbo! Was advised to request in writing that they use a base period from the end of 2005 from my last job since I was "industrially disabled" throughout 2006. They keep asking me if I worked in 2006 despite having told them in writing 3 times NO, as well as WHY NOT!! Don't know if my understanding of "industrially disabled" is off, but asked my case worker and even SHE said she doesn't know when asked to define the term!! Can ANYONE help me or offer solid advice?!?

I did not find the name of this disciple in the Bible.

John 13:23 states: “Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.”

It was not Simon Peter because the next verse, John 13:24, states: “Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.”

John 13:25: “He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?”

John 13:26: “Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.” So Judas Iscariot was not the disciple who Jesus loved either.

The name of this disciple is still not stated in John 19:26-27, to wit: “When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his moth, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”

I've asked a couple questions so far dealing with sexism, or lack thereof in the Bible. Only one clear scripture saying that women are equal to men to be found. Tons of sexist crap throughout. If Paul thought women were not his equals, thats his business, he could be a pig if he wanted. I think it's high time modern men stop using bronze age church rules to try to look down on women. If you agree, great! If you do not, who cares? You can all feel free to tell me how I'm going to hell now.

Most of you probably just saw the question about the 14 year old girl wanting an abortion. I have a few questions about it.
Alot of people said things alone the lines of "Your 14 you should have thought of the consquences before having sex." Doesn't that statement contradict it's self? Why are people expecting 14 year olds to really think things through? Did they all forget what is was like to be 14?
alot of people were calling her a murderrer. Isn't that alot to throw at a girl? It's not against the law. Why judge other people based on your beliefs?
Why did so few people give reasonable answers like adoption? There are alot of options for a girl in her postion and it seemed like most people just wanted to throw stones. It's sad that when another hman being is having a problem so many people just tell that person what they want that person to do. Instead of giving that person advise on what they could do.

You can always spot a phony-fundie story when the atheist come Xtian is portrayed as grumpy, hostile, joyless, etc...

As an atheist myself, i'd have to say that, proportionally, i have met more Xtians that had bad attitudes than i have atheists.
