is retarded. Now I tend to be a bit more liberal than conservative, but this New Age movement, which unfortunately is heavily associated with the left, is even more idiotic than the Christian fundamentalism practiced by the right. I went to this New Age convention and they were doing astrology and tarot card reading and all kinds of crazy things that I don't even have names for. I am convinced that no matter whom you make friends with or what political or religious organizations you ally yourself with, there will always be really stupid people within the group you join that give you a bad name.

The Mayan Long count calendar doesn't say the world ENDS on 12-21-2012. What happens is on that date a new Baktun, the 13th Baktun, begins. (A Baktun is 396 years long.) So it's the end of the 12th Baktun, similar to 1999 being the end of the 20th century for us. Also on 12-21-2012, there's a grand astronomical alignment at dawn between the rising sun and the Milky Way which signifies rebirth of the sun. The sun symbolizes the world ages, so this is a new age beginning, and this alignment only happens every 26,000 years so some call it a grand world age. However there's nothing in there about our world ENDING-because it's already ended. That's why it's so horrible right now. We're waiting for the new world to begin. Read "Maya Cosmogenesis 2012" by John Major Jenkins for a lot more on this subject. Read my 2012 article on my Jaguar Nights blog or my regular website for other information on that day.

Ummmm.... New age movement? I believe that you are mixing things like the media did when they gave it the name "New Age Movement" This so called movement was based on the hippy culture and later associated with those who "played" with the paranormal (IE: Ouija boards, etc.). It is not in any way associated with politics, left or right. Now Tarot readings, rune readings and the like are guides of self awareness. As for crazy things and stupidity, I wonder how smart people are who put down things they have no idea about. Before you call something "Crazy" or call people "stupid" or say something is "Left wing", I suggest you find out more about what you are speaking of so you can make an informed statement and don't look really stupid to those who have studied these so called crazy things all their adult lives.

It's a broad movement, not all 'New Age' people believe in astrology and things like that. I think a lot of it makes more since than Christianity, but a lot of it... doesn't. Like you say, no matter what religion you take, there will be those in it who are not so bright.

I suppose it depends on what you call New Age.
There IS a difference between New Age and paganism. There is actually coming a point of separation between Neo-Pagan and Reconstructionist.
Some of us have no use for Tarot Cards and such things. I am a weird pagan. I don't believe in them. Sorry but I don't. LOL Astrology I also don't believe in. I believe in the beauty of them, the wonder of them, but that's about it.
Just please know that not all Pagans are New Age and not all New Age are Pagans.

I wouldn't call it retarded. It's a bit outrageous, strange, different . . . bizarre . . . but definitely interesting, just like all other 'movements' are. If it's not your thing, don't go back. Find out what is your thing and do that. Otherwise, live and let live. Life's too short to be pissed off at all these different groups.

I wonder what kind of books this person is reading. This person is very profoundly confused. In stead of looking to and fro for a religion that suits ones fancy he should look deep within himself for all of the answers to life.God lives within you as the higher self and is always there when in need help.

The New Age movement is against Christianity because it has the self at the center of its focus. Christians (hopefully) have God at the center of their focus/being. New Agers tend to not be other-oriented either....in other words, selfish. Third, they tend to live for this life only -- not for eternal life.

It's not for me to judge.
All philosophies of life have pitfalls and benefits.
I'm learning to integrate the most inspiring of each into my own view.
I couldn't care less if you think I'm the silliest person on earth, I don't have a lot of ego to bruise.
Even if you hate me I still love you.
How's that for silly :)
