why do you believe in god? i don't know what to believe.i want to believe in god but i need a reason, i can't just say i believe in him i need a reason to, an explaination. at the moment i don't believe in god, im catholic and im not religious so god isn't something we talk about. i believe that the meteor struck the earth and things were created like that. how did god do it and how was he created. i want to believe in god but i need a logical answer, i believe the meteor hit the earth because that sounds most logical to me. i don't know if i believe in heaven or hell, what i do believe is that we are reincarnated and we start life again with out even knowing we existed before. what is right and what should i believe? i would like answers from people who study this sort of stuff and have knowledge and be able to give good answers.

Let me say this 1st I love me!!! But a co worker disturbed me today she told me to my face that I look like a plain old black girl!! & nonthing is wrong with looking like anything. Now i know for a fact that isnt so. My mom is "black" my dad is "indian" i picked up more of my dads traits than my mom. & clearly looking at me you can tell that I am 1/2 of something..A coworker asked me which 1 of my parents was white? I said 1 is black 1 is indian. So my other coworker says what are you talking about she looks like plain old black girl.& that would be fine 100% black but clearly& physically looking at me i am not why woul she say that? Thats like looking at a dog and calling it a cat.. am i over analyzing? or was she indirectly being sarcastic??

Now that I've got our attention- I've noticed the media portrays most gay relationships as 'open' or 'uncommitted,' where the
couple is together, but allowed to sleep around and fool around with other men while in the relationship. Why is this such a phenomenon in gay culture? Why is it allowed? Why is the prominent portayal of gay couples not one of complete fidelity?

Why don't such gay couples hold themselves to the same standards as straight couples- where any sort of cheating/fooling around outside the relationship is not permitted without any angst?

Hopefully I don't sound too ignorant- this would help me understand why/how/how many gay couples actually want marriage rights like straight couples, but don't necessarily hold themselves to the same standards (not to say that all relationship standards of straight couples are high).

I have seen answers to questions pertaining to personal responsibility here that include this idea that sex is a basic human need, and many times on talk shows when people are fighting over who the baby's daddy is, the first person to suggest abstinece as a form of birth control is torn a new butt crack over the idea.

I thought the three basic human needs were food, clothing and shelter. What is it about sex that makes it the fourth human necessity, to the point that people have it without thinking about the end result, either a baby or a desease?

And why is it that when those people are facing the music because of their choice, they pull out this "sex is a basic human need" excuse? I'd really like to know what people think about this.

Seems to me life isn't black and white. Can you get the answer from a rule-book?

Much has been written about how religion has caused, or at least contributed to, many wars down through the ages. And I think there is more than enough evidence to support that.

But what about the role religion plays in things such as prejudice, racism, sexism, and intolerance. Can the world ever know true peace as long as this is the case?

Just a couple hours ago I was stranded on the freeway out of gas. I was in some industrial park/commercial district area next to the LAX in Los Angeles. I NEVER run out of gas but this time around the "Low fuel" warning light had quit working on me on a 5 year old car.

I walked off the freeway and 2 miles later I find a cab. He said he'd give me a ride if the person who called him doesn't show. He didn't show. So right when I was about to get in he gets a phone call for another customer. He then says, "You can walk". This is an East Indian cab driver. He jumps into the car while I'm still talking to him. "But I'm stranded. This is a high crime area, what if I get mugged or killed". He said "It's not my problem" as he continues to accelerate away nearly runing me over.

Now I know that businesses "have the right to refuse service to anybody". But seriously now, do you guys think he was in the wrong? Good that I'm OK but I've never been so scared in my whole life.

My cousin is 14. She hangs out with nothing but girls. She has one friend that goes everywhere she goes. they shower together, sleep together, and play around with each other a lot. Her mother thinks she is a lesbian. I told her not to think this and even if she is that it was ok. What do you think??? Is she or what?? Thanx...

What id really like to find out is Do most of you follow your own religious beliefs based on what you have been taught? Or do you learn and grow with your belifes based on your own life experiences?

The reason I ask is because I do believe in God and I know that Jesus died for our sins. But I do not in anyway, shape Or form consider myself religious. I have gained my spiritual insights based on what I have read in the bible, as well as whaat i've seen in my own life time. I have drawn my own conclusions about what is in the bible and I havent been "Taught" how im "suppose" to believe.

From a telephone sampling of more than 2,000 households, university researchers found that Americans rate atheists below Muslims, recent immigrants, gays and lesbians and other minority groups in “sharing their vision of American society.” Atheists are also the minority group most Americans are least willing to allow their children to marry.
