why do you believe in god? i don't know what to believe.i want to believe in god but i need a reason, i can't just say i believe in him i need a reason to, an explaination. at the moment i don't believe in god, im catholic and im not religious so god isn't something we talk about. i believe that the meteor struck the earth and things were created like that. how did god do it and how was he created. i want to believe in god but i need a logical answer, i believe the meteor hit the earth because that sounds most logical to me. i don't know if i believe in heaven or hell, what i do believe is that we are reincarnated and we start life again with out even knowing we existed before. what is right and what should i believe? i would like answers from people who study this sort of stuff and have knowledge and be able to give good answers.

there is no evidence that a god exists
therefore there's no reason to believe that one does.

When I read your question, I see the phrase "... I want to believe..."
You think you need proof to believe, but you already have it. Rationalizing proof with faith will only confuse you. But if you must argue the point, Let me share something with you...
There are many things in life and existence that have no explanation and show no reason for happening. The times when you feel most alone and you think of those who warm your heart to comfort you, those images are that of God. God appears as the waves on the ocean, the wind in your hair, the song in a birds voice. When looking for proof, look no further that your own inspiration and ability to question.
I apologize for the soapboxing, but I tend to try to put too much in a short time....

You sound Buddhist when you talk about reincarnation, but you can also believe in god at the same time.
The existence of god is unknowable and probably will stay that way. If you get any straight yes or no answer, don't listen to them because neither side has absolute proof.
I suggest you believe in whatever comforts you best. You can borrow beliefs from multiple religions if you want. Just because the Churches and Temples sets guidelines on what they want people to believe, doesn't mean you need to follow all of them.

religion is nothing more then an individual's search for a cosmic purpose in what appears to be a meaningless existence. if you ask people what you should believe in, youre naturally going to get different answers, and youll only be more confused. the best advice i can give you is to develop your own philosophy from the ground up, based on what you care to believe. it can be an established doctrine like christianity or taoism, or simply a code of personal ethics you choose to live by. in any case, your beliefs should reflect who you truly are, so live by them and dont let anyone question them (unless youre doing someone harm by them)

To not believe in god while fearing an afterlife in hell is a paradox. Sounds like you're not too firm on your belief. To answer your question though, no, religion is the most elaborate and convoluted scam in the history of man.

Try reading some books by Richard Dawkins & Christopher Hitchens. Read as many books as you can get your hands on.
Then decide for yourself.
The sign on being on the right path is that you are asking questions. The sign that you are on the wrong path - is doing what others tell you to do without questioning.

God hates religion. God wants a personal relationship with YOU through His Son Jesus!
You must read and hear God's word continually in order to know who He is and what He wants>
Jhn 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.
GBY!
Rom 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

No. Whilst a lot of people have come up with arguments for why a god exists every single one of them turns out to be flawed.
I wouldn't worry about hell myself, if Allah turns out to exist the Christians will be just as screwed as you.
