Why do laymen think the know better than the entire scientific community?

So you read a book by Michael Behe, Duane Gish or Kent Hovind, does that make you an expert?

If 99% of scientists subscribe to evolution and 1% subscibe to creationism, and you've red a book by one of the 1% of creationists, doesn't that mean that you should read 99 books on evolution to be sure that you have a balanced perspective?

The pope gets it, why don't you?

2. A Maryada Purushottam should never cheat ... cheating is what Rama did while killing Bali.
3. A Maryada Purushottam should uphold the law .. yet rama exiled Sita just cause of a loose talk from an urchin.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed id the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Lets break it down:
1) Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee (direct quote from scripture: Luke 1:28)
2) Blessed are thou among women, and blessed id the fruit of thy womb, Jesus (direct quote from scripture: Luke 1:42)
3) Holy Mary, mother of God (Christ is God incarnete, and since Mary bore God in her womb she is rightly called the Mother of God: "Theotokos", or "God-bearer". Remeber what Elizabeth said: "And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me?" Luke 1:43)
4) pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen (Revelation 5:8 shows that the saints in heaven do actively intercede for us, and in 1 Timothy 2:1–4, Paul strongly encouraged Christians to intercede for each other since such prayers are "pleasing to God".

The False Messiah will become leader of Jerusalem.

He is deceiving the world right now and building the system of the beast which will wage war on Islam.

Jesus will return and join the Muslims who will defeat the False Messiah and his armies.

The False Messiah (Antichrist) will become the leader of Israel.

That's what i was talking about, no one seemed to realize. tho there seem to be some good teaching, what about those pointed out by Gorgeous(tv), for example. Hope you don't mind me quoting you Gorgeous(tv). According to the Bible it's moral:

*to kill our kids for cursing us.
*to stone a woman if she is not (ALLEGEDLY) a virgin on her wedding day.
*to sell your sister -or daughter, i'd like to add- into slavery.
*to force a rape victim to marry her attacker.
*to enslave.
*to kill any friend or relative that even tries to talk you out of the belief in God.

Is that the moral we want? I overhear around people say it was ok to them. That we just get over our fear. Nowadays statements like those just makes it even creepier.

In Christianity all sins are equally wrong -

Divorce is a sin.

Breaking the Sabbath is a sin.

Getting drunk is a sin.

Fornication is a sin.

Looking at another with lust is a sin.........

I hear some "older" people say if they could go back and have a different career, they would probably have worked in a different field than they did.

Do you regret going into the field you did? Was it your passion, or "just a paycheck?" What advice do you have for someone starting off in the working world? Thanks!

This may seem like a weird question but over the years its a simple principle that I have found to truly help me to stay with the Lord through all kinds of situation.
When we are faced with a situation where we can react right away in ourselves, from our flesh. from our mind.. from who we are naturally, many times the result is that we are not walking and having our being according to the Spirit indwelling us but rather we are in our flesh or the self. BUT.. learning how to simply hesitate when faced with things.. to just turn to the Lord... saying" Oh Lord Jesus... i want to deal with this in You" or to simply pray or call upon the name of the Lord has a way of "switching on" or "ushering us" and directing us to the Spirit. Its a matter of seconds... but it works.
These few moments gives the Lord a way to be our Way Truth and Life in that circumstance. I just found this to be such a help and wanted to know if any of you have ever tried this or have learned this from the Lord.

Everyone has a disease. That disease is sin. This disease of sin is fatal. Do you say you have never sinned and you are a good person? The bible says no one is good not one.
The Bible says that God has a standard that he will judge you by on your appointed day of death. It’s called the Ten Commandments. Let’s see how you will do. Have you ever told a lie? (Including white lies and fibs) Have you ever stolen anything? (no matter the value) The third Commandment is “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain”. Have you ever used His name as a curse word to express disgust? The seventh Commandment is “You shall not commit adultery”, but Jesus said “If you look upon a woman to lust after her you’ve already committed adultery with her in your heart”. Have you ever looked at another person with lust or desire? If you said 'yes' to these four questions, then by your own admission you’re a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer-at-heart, and we’ve only looked at four of the Ten Commandments. On Judgment Day, if God were to judge you by those standards, would you be innocent or guilty? Would you go to Heaven or Hell?

The Bible says that you would be guilty, that means hell. Know that God, the just judge of the universe, is also rich in mercy. He sent His Son Jesus to suffer and die on the cross on your behalf to take the punishment for your sins. He paid your fine with His life's blood. That means God can commute your death sentence. He can allow you to live because of what Jesus did on the cross. Through His death and resurrection, God can now dismiss your case. He can forgive your sins and allow you to live. So what must you do? You must repent - turn from your sins. Don't just confess your sins to God; confess and forsake them. Don't just believe in Jesus - trust in Him, like you would trust in a parachute to save you. You don't just believe in a parachute, you put your trust into it! That's what you must do with the savior. Then get a Bible and read it daily, and obey what you read

In what ways as believers do you open your being up to the Lord each day for Him to touch who you are. Each of us has areas in our hearts that we struggle with and year after year may pass and still the Lord has not been given a way to deal with this matter in us. I know that I struggle with a certain matter and I have found that coming to the Word and simply being washed by the water in the word refreshes me. Opening up to call upon the Lord's name just ushers me into the Spirit, its there that I know i am most real... I can drink of the Spirit and be energised and nourished and supplied. For each of us it may be different. Some of us love to listen to hymns.. meet with others to be encouraged, read the word or pray, some spend a while just confessing before the Lord applying the blood to their consciences. How do you go on day by day with your inner struggles and besetting matters before Him? Your testimony may encourage someone here today.

I have a quilt that was hand sewn by my great great grandmother(rip),and no one hardly ever touches it. Well last night I slept under it and I kept having a dream about meeting my grandmother(I've never met her) while she made the blanket. I was inside of the blanket though,and everything was all...silky. 0.o;
It lasted probably about 2 minutes and it happened over and over and over.It was so weird. I say it was just a dream. My boyfriend thinks it was something different.
Bleh,I shouldn't have slept in........coffee?

By that, I don't mean just someone who lies compulsively, but tells way over-the-top stories that have you wondering, "What makes him/her think we would even remotely believe it?"

I had one co-worker at an office job that claimed to have had 26 different girlfriends, a trust fund and a jetset lifestyle that included trips to Tokyo, London and the Bahamas.

A lot of things would be so much easyer to understand if some people would just say what they have to say, without giving a 10 parahraphes of quotes from the bible. Not all questions here are adressed only to christians (i rarely saw any other quotes) and they are not all about christianity. Is it really so hard to make a difference between the word "christian" and "religious" ? I mean no disrespect but it's really annoying
