In Christianity all sins are equally wrong -

Divorce is a sin.

Breaking the Sabbath is a sin.

Getting drunk is a sin.

Fornication is a sin.

Out of all the issues you just mention, none of them receive the publicity that homosexuality receives. It's not just the Church that deals with homosexuality, it's in every part of our culture, from Hollywood to our court systems. Just as it is the job of the judiciary branch of government to judge whether or not a law is constitutional, so the church must make it's voice heard on such an issue. As you said, all of these things are sins and the church deals with these sins as well, especially within their own congregations. Homosexuality is more than just an issue the church is confronting, it's one that the entire world is confronting. BTW, to the guy who said that gays are the new blacks, please don't say anything like that again. My ancestors were stolen from their own country, brought to this country on ships where living conditions were not fit for roaches, then forced to toil fields all day long. They were dismembered, hung, murdered and not protected by law. Whole families were split, a daughter snatched from the arms of her screaming mother. Don't you dare say that again.

It's because of the ideology of homosexuality, their agenda is being crammed down our throats. On the other hand, there is the problem of "obvious" sin, sins that we can readily see, unfortunately, the majority of the so-called Christians ignore the hidden sins in their lives by throwing the word of God at homosexuals, which is also a sin. Paul tells us not to judge unbelievers, we are only to judge the believers by their fruits.

Because Sodomy hurts so many different things.
1. It destroys the idea of a family THE basic building block of society. In other countries the state has tried raising children because the childrens' parents either died from AIDS or just didn't care, and failed miserably. Nothing can replace a loving family.
2. It spreads horrible diseases.
3. It fully takes away from the sex act its intended purpose; that of cooperating with God in the creation of a new life.
4. It leads to pedophilia.
5. It is one of the sins crying out to Heaven for vengence.
May God have mercy upon them.

Homosexuality is the only sin that has advocacy groups promoting it.

There are no groups trying to get divorce as a "alternative lifestyle." Nor are there groups doing the same for drunks, fornicators, or Sabbath breakers.

If there weren't such an "in your face" agenda, Christians probably would ignore it.

I agree with this question. I don't think that homosexuality should be considered a larger sin than any of the other sins. Many people who do feel that it is a more offensive sin, and are judging people for it, are not acting very Christ-like.

Not sure if my answer is the reason, but I'm guessing it's because they have this stereotypical view about being a "perfect" person - which to them includes sexual preference is being straight. And they back it up with that story about Sodom and Gomorrah and other texts. Which I find ridiculous since they opt for using the Bible as their excuse to defend it. I'm straight, and I have my share of some beliefs in a God, however I can't stand it when in a debate someone will use the Bible for their examples when he/she runs out of other reasons.

Heh, of all sins you've listed.... I abhore divorce and lust (especially if one's married with kids).

AMEN!

Well-said.

ALL have sinned...ALL are sinners...and ALL fall short of the glory of God.

...our ONLY hope is the forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ, who came and died a sacrifice for our sins - even dying in our place on the cross, as just payment for such sins.

Outside of Christ, neither homosexuals or heterosexuals have any hope.

Within Christ, both homosexuals and heterosexuals find their refuge.

In part, though, I believe "homosexuality" is discussed more because:
There aren't a WHOLE HOST OF PEOPLE that are committing adultery...and saying,

"HEY! That's just how I was born...I can't help it. Adultery is OK. It is a lifestyle! I should have RIGHTS as an adulterer! The government should ALLOW me to have sex outside of marriage. No...further, the government should give me TAX breaks for the number of women I have sex with outside of my marriage...cause I have to "support" these women, too...when I wine-and-dine them! Do you have any idea how expensive it is for me to have all these extra-marital affairs? It is just not fair! All of you are a bunch of adulterophobics!!!"

We are sinners, therefore we need God's grace (unmerited favor) . It's not that there are specific sins that we are judged, but because our nature is to be against God.

What God did was supply His Son to make a way for sinners to take in order to be counted as one of His people. The Jews, He hasn't forgotten about. They are still waiting for the promises God gave to them. But they must trust Him through His Son like anyone else in order to obtain His grace. God told them they wouldn't believe as a nation at first, and that's the state they are in now. ( Please read Zechariah 14 for when they 'come to their senses' )

So for all of us, we gain peace with God through His Son Jesus Christ, our sins, whatever they might be, are washed away by the sacrifice of Jesus.

The biggest sin is agitating others.

Pity so many races and religions fornicate - I would like living on a planet without man. The Animals and Trees would be enough for me.

I can well do without mans greed, uponeself attitude, killing, harming, polluting and destroying.
