My T.A.'s an asshole. I am a student of the institution. I paid the institution to learn something. I didn't pay to get yelled at and be the recieving end of the guy's obnoxiousness. Even his coworkers thinks he's an ***. How do I deal with the guy?

You suck it up and "play their game." I'm an instructor at a large university and I know there are some students who don't like me, and I'm not crazy about them. The thing is, though, I'm in charge of their grade. To be honest, if I like a student, and their grade is sitting on the boarder between grades, I always give the higher one. If it's a student who's been rude, or fights with me, I am very pleased to give the lower grade, and say "that's what you earned." It's technically true.

What you can do to get even though is to report his behavior both in student evaluations, and go to his dean. That shows the department that there is a problem with one of their faculty members and he will most likely lose his appointment. (That's how I got my appointment...the girl before me was removed and I took over her class.)

Your voice matters. (Just not to the T.A).

Play his game, get the grades, and move on. Years down the road, the thing that matters is the GPA. No one will care that a low grade was a result of an asshole T.A.

Best of luck :)

You should definitely speak up and tell him that he needs to stop treating you this way...do this in a very polite manner and try not to raise your voice (you don't want to look like him) If I were you I would put it in writing and cc his supervisor or boss. In the letter or verbally you may want to express that you don't feel this is a good learning environment, not enough professionalism from his part....things of that nature. Hope this helps! take care! :)

First you talk to the teacher and if that doesnt work-you go one step higher. No student deserves to be treated rudely when they're trying to learn and better themselves. Dont forget that without students, that TA wouldnt be earning a living. You're his customer and he needs to treat you accordingly.

Report him. Gather evidence in the form of a diary and write a rational letter clearly explaining why you are dissatisfied.

Complain to the instructor/supervisor. Give concrete examples of his ugly behavior. Do it in writing and ask that the complaint be filed in his personnel file.

You should report him. Your school should have a harrasment officer who can help you. Ask at the registrar's office they should be able to point you in the right direction. No one should be treated like that.

In this day and age of mini recording devices....shouldn't be hard to get a new T.A. in there in no time.

Take it as an experience you'll have in the real world.

If you feel that it's only directed toward you than bring it to someones attention
