i do not know if it is just a gift from god but i always find it easy to forgive, loads of people have hurt me in past including a close friend who i lent 200 quids to and she disappeared, an aunt who mentally and physically abused me for 4years and an ex boyfriend who told me he wanted to go and sleep with loadsa woman to help him decide if he wants to be with me forever...needles to say i dumped him before you could say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. anyway all those people are forgiven, if i can expect god to forgive me then i should also be forging toward other people. the thing is however i still remember their wring doing even tho i have forgiven them. is this normal?

And they maintain that their lives were miserable and that they had no hope for the future, and were terribly immoral people.

Yet, how is it that the atheists on this site, as well as any atheist I've ever known or known of, are very optimistic and good-natured people? I'd like an explanation!

For the male of the Species, the first ego boosts is when a young man addresses him as, "Sir".

The first major deflation is when a young lady does the same thing.

Does something like this happen to ladies? Or is it more probable that you're just seen to evolve to the 'Classic' class where in vintage is seen as an attribute.

I recently made an inquisition on Jesus doubting God or himself (depending on the view of the quarreling Christians). Jesus screamed out while hanging from the cross: "FATHER, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME!!?" This implies that Jesus doubted...which if He did pretty much invalidates the whole foundation of Christianity.
The answers I got from this are either irrelevant or without evidence. If you Christians say that Jesus cried our and doubted and then IN FACT ENDED UP PRAISING GOD....then show me some facts!! Where in the Bible did it mention that Jesus praised God? I can only see him ending up in doubt!! Which sacks your religion!!!

I ask because the type of cliches and phrases being used over and over again suggest posters are repeating material or scripts they're been taught by someone else.

Unfortunately the "quality" of witnessing resulting from this approach is just plain embarassing!

Arguments, Bible bashing and continued use of cliches will not convert anyone ... in my experience.

Evangelicals and fundamentalists please stop embarassing the rest of us with your homophobia and ignorance.

If you do not have the gift of preaching please go offline, perform good works, and learn better rhetorical and reasoning skills.

Clearly from the quality of many questions and answers some people think they do have the skills, when they certainly do not, and the same criticism about skills, applies to many non Christians and atheists posting here!

Stop trying to convert each other!

does the process of answering and asking these questions make us feel less alone? Or is it more of a heightening of our alone-ness, by the perceived presences of others?

God, Jesus and the holy spirit are a trinity, therefor they have the same thougths and feelings, and agree on one thing. This is what Christians believe from my observations. Do you Christians remember what Jesus cried out while hanging from the cross? Let me remind you: "Father! Why have you forsaken me??!!" Apparantly God who is the same person as Jesus is doubting himself? How come? Forget all the other critcisms, just this one alone is enough to sack your religion back to where it belongs!! In the trash can!
For you to disclaim yourself you need to deny the triniy theory...which would require you Christians to quarrel amongst yourselves. That would be a sight..HAHA!
Get your fact straight and answer me! Don't deny the trinity or i will have a whole new topic to laugh about! I warned you!!

I was just thinking about this...and whether you're for or against Christianity, this means no offense.

I often see people try to discredit the bible by saying "Oh Jesus he would come back before people would die" but they don't list the verse....(although most of us who believe should know the verse....we don't always. So it's more helpful if you provide the reference).

And same for Christians...I often see people "quote" the bible, and although it's close to what is said they don't provide the verse. Now, I am not free of guilt from this, because I've done it...but I have learned from my mistakes to listen verses that back up my claims....

So, just for future courtesy, if you want to discredit something or back up the claim, could you first list the reference verse? I've seen too many people on here claim things that are in the bible when they aren't...it's really upsetting.

Is this how evolutionists feel when people claim we came from monkeys?

I am so tired lately of being down and out. Man am I on a pity pot. I want to ask God, why my life has been so hard, although many good things he has done for me, and well do I know it. But I am scared to ask him why he puts me through so much pain. Mentally, spiritually, and physically. I am afraid to question God. I have sense enough to know that everything he does is for a purpose. I am usually strong, but just how strong can one person be. I just want to ask him sometimes why has he abandoned me. But, then deep in my heart I know he has his reasons, and that he does not abandon his children. I'll just try and remember that sometimes our darkest days can turn to light. I'm not angry at God, I guess I should really be thanking him for giving me the strenghth to be able to deal with all of the things I am going through. I need to pray really hard for greater faith. I'm getting weak. Does anybody out here feel me? I know I have not been totally faithful to him, but I am really trying.

I mean, I read it. It was mostly interesting (although the begats were dreadful, they should move that to an appendix) and quite surreal in places but I fail to see how anyone could say
"Oh, is THAT how it works. Well, I'm convinced".

Do you have to have a basic level of god-belief before you can start thinking the bible makes sense?
