They are here to educate not proselytize. The fact that you are using a dictionary definition of the metaphorical usage of the word religion to be the same as the technical definition shows that you need education. The definition you are using could be applied to golf.

It is day here :P...... why do you think Y!A only existed in USA?

----

You conveniently left out the three other definitions from the American Heritage Dictionary ......

The Last definition is used to define a person who has constantly do the same thing over and over again.

For example, Micheal religiously goes to Cambodia to help the staving children there 3 times a year.

Jane jogged 10 km a day religiously.

Simply because they are the devil's advocates, and of course they want to see if they can actually woo others to think as they do! By the way, atheism is not a religion...but merely a way of thinking.

I am not sure as to the depth or coverage in which you atribute to the atheists preaching their religion. I may be looking at the atheist stance in more of a correct light and without all the hoop-laaa others do. By that I mean, I understand the atheist to focus their efforts in advocating the separation of church and state; and in this perspective I agree with them. AND LET ME BE QUICK TO STATE THAT I AM A STAUNCH PROFESSING CHRISTIAN OF THE OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST WHO BELIEVE IN THE TOTAL DEPARAVITY OF ALL HUMANS IN THEIR NATURE INHERITED FROM ADAM; THE SPIRITUAL GIFT IS GIVEN BY THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHOUT THE PERSON THINKING, SAYING, OR DOING ANYTHING TO GET IT, i.e., THE BESTOWING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THE INDIVIDUAL IS A "FREE" GIFT OF GOD TO THOSE OF HIS CHOOSING AND THE INDIVIDUAL HAS "NOTHING" TO DO WITH GETTING IT! I also advocate the separation of church and state, and by doing so I find myself aligned, in that precept, with some strange persons, e.g., atheist, and ideas that most of those professing to be "Christian" do not advocate. What's wrong with that? The Catholics and Christians sure aren't missing a beat here with their Bible Thumping. If you have a problem with it, how about you change the station. Ya know, just like on your car radio when a crappy song comes on. I have to tune out all the right-wing nutjob questions just to keep myself sane on here.

Search "Why are atheists in R&S?" for your answer.
Edit-
Please tell the Dalia Lama that he has no "cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion." Because like me he is a Buddhist, and an atheist.

um, idk what ur talking about, but we don't and we're not. Atheism isn't a religion, smart one. its a LACK of religion. it means u DON'T believe in god and therefore u have nothing to 'faithfully preach,' unless some douche is just trying to tell religious ppl to stop believing in god, in which case they're a total *** and i'm on ur side. i say to each his own... ppl should be able to believe whatever they want
