yes I have heard of such a study but unfortunately I cant say much about it-
-anyway we do know that the soul is what leaves the body at death--but the soul is said to be so small- 1 ten-thousand the tip of the hair --yet more luminous than hundreds of suns!!
the human eye cant see it--so I'm really not sure about that test--

I've heard the story. The soul leaves the body when it dies. The version I heard was that after the person died they weighed 1/50th oz less. That was supposedly the weight of the soul.

I don't believe it for a couple reasons. First, the soul is not material, so why would it have material weight? Second, how would they determine that a person lost such a small amount of weight due to the soul leaving the body? Even if they weighed them just a few minutes before they died, in that amount of time breathing alone could cause the loss of water from the body through breathing in that small amount. Also after death, a small amount of perspiration could evaporate from the skin and clothing in a few minutes. I doubt the persons in the study were placed on a large scale to be weighed as they were dieing. Even if they were weighed just a few minutes before and after dieing, other factors could easily account for a decrease in weight on the order of 1/50th oz.

The theory is nonsense.

Yes there were. I just don't remember the name of the study. There was a movie about this subject as well.
