I only read nonfiction because I like learning about everything.
I just asked a question about science fiction, can't read the mess but love to watch it.

if God created us for a higher purpose, i don't understand why we have to wait on this stupid earth for billions of years and wait for another return. i don't understand our purpose on this earth i think it's just a big waste of time... although i used to believe in God i don't anymore(don't know why) but i always watch out for the rapture(probably b/c i know that ill be left behind).. it feels like all i do is go to work come back home, go to work, home, work..... WHAT ARE WE HERE FOR?!? if God loves us sooo much then why does he only give some the gift of faith?

I don't want to see any mean stereotypes, I'm just asking what harmless fun stereotypes you think are true. I think the one about filipinos loving karoke and shoes is the most true. What stereotype do you think is most true?

Who else gets tired of scientists trying to prove or disprove the existence of God. You have atheistic Scientists like Richard Dawkins who write books like "The God Delusion" arguing that God most likely does not exist, and then you have theistic scientists like Michael Behe who write books like "Darwins Black Box" arguing that God most likely does exist. It annoys the hell out of me. Science has not yet reached a point where we can conclude with any degree of accuracy that God does or does not exist. There is no point in trying to prove the existence of God because it simply cannot be done with current knowledge and technology. It does nothing but belittle the purpose of science when people like Richard Dawkins and Michael Behe claim that science can do things that it can't yet do.

What religious based idea do you have that is different from the norm?

I wonder if God could be the leader of a race of aliens and Satan is the leader of another, both of them having different ideas of what to do with us when they return.

I've heard about a book and DVD called The Secrets. What is it all about? I saw the news and people were going to Secrets Workshops. What is all that about? People believe that a DVD and book will actually help them out in life? I believe its just a way to get people to waste their cash on something that isn't even real. I have my beliefs set on something that is real but thats just fake. Sorry but what is this world coming to? They create things that just rip people off their money.

I've heard several scientist say they were trying to touch the face/hand of God. Einstein said he was trying to catch God at his work all his life.

Do you think science will ever find him?

To any fellow Jewish people who may be reading this. What does it mean to be Jewish to you and why?, I just found out that i'm adopted and that my maternal parents were Jewish, I would love to know from others what being Jewish means to them and how that has changed your life if you where to say you were a Christian or Muslim etc. Thank you.

Most Christians I've known in my life believed they had an obligation to enforce by any means available, their own views on morality.

For instance, a Christian who felt strongly about the use of illegal drugs would, after a lot of hand wringing and soul searching, would regretfully turn a marijuana-smoking friend in to the police.

In fact, if they believed the person had enough in possession to rate a jail term, they'd consider it a moral duty to help the cops set their friend up for a felony bust.

Have I got this wrong? Were the Christians I've seen do this 'real' Christians, or the 'other' kind of Christians?

-I have eternal pardon from my transgressions because of my imaginary friend who forgives me
-I can do whatever I want and just say that I am sorry and then it's like it never happened
-I have a set of rules that I hold everyone else to except for myself
-When I feel like having fun, I totally disregard the laws that I usually advocate. Then afterwards, I deny that I broke any of my own laws. Yet I still condemn others for breaking these same laws.
-When my label gets in the way, I shed my label and do all the things that I am not supposed to according to the rules that go along with wearing that label. When I can gain favor from my label, then I proudly wear it.
-I like to use guilt manipulation
-I like to slander people
-I don’t use logic
-I am an elitist
-I wish for all people who don’t have the same label as me to burn in the torture zone when they die
-I am saved (?)
-I am going to the pleasure dome when I die because my imaginary friend will take me there

ie... like asking an atheist to prove God doesn't exist. But, you can prove a negative can't you? Don't mathmeticians prove negatives all the time? (ie... someone says the number 3 is not even, to prove it they say 3 equals 2x1+1, by definition therefore, it is proven NOT to be even, so a negative is proven). What say you?

I've always ate spaghetti with my fingers. I like to do it if the spaghetti has extra tomato sauce too. I was in a restaurant yesterday and I was eating some spaghetti with cheese and tomato sauce with my fingers, like I always do. I guess some people complained and the waiter asked me to use a fork. I refused to and they refused service to me.

Was this rude? People don't have to look if I was eating spaghetti with my fingers.
