I'd be afraid that they'd let my child play in traffic if the little one let slip something resembling blasphemy or mockery.

How do I know if God is leading me to serve in ministry? I have desire to serve him but parents are worried that ministers will not make enough money. If I dont have desire to do anything but ministry but parents are opposing, what is the next step?

Don't say that Christianity both helps and hurts the Western civilization because I know it does. State whether you think it hurts or helps in a whole and why.

Would you do it because, 'it was law'?

Would you do it 'for their own good'?

Would you do it because it would get you a better seat in heaven?

Or would you do it because Jews killed Christ?

I've often wondered which reason all those Lutherans in Germany gave themselves.

about my job: I found the following poem today when I was reading through "My Daily Bread":

When God asks you to lay aside
Some cherished work you loved to do
Accept His choice of someone else
And let Him give new work to you.

Just wanted you to know it inspired me. Thank you all for your prayers and advice!

Although its not finished here on Aug 3, I think it deserves a redo because I suspect that the answers given and the chosen answer will be paltry. I will keep an eye on it and if a good answer comes in then I will write about that also.

Joel 2:3 seems to picture this God: Law
OT Law <- - - - No Escape - - -> NT Law

James 3:17 seems to picture that God: Grace
Firstly Pure Grace <- - - - Escape - - -> Grace Us

This: God sent his Son to condemn(law) the world
That: the world thru Jesus-->Christ might be saved

This: I fought the law and the law won: extinction
That: I flushed the law and grace won: salvation

This: "I will forsake you", the city, your fathers: Enmity
That: "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee: Friend

This: by using of ordinances(laws) all perish: no escape
That: by giving more earnest heed none perish: escape

This: no escape: "them": 1Th 5:3
That: escape: "us": 1Th 5:9

This: the day of the LORD is darkness and not light
That: the day of God is light with no darkness at all

This: cursed EVERY ONE by the law: Galatians 3: 10-13
That: BLESSED every one by grace: Galatians 5:18-6:18

This: saved + destroyed afterward by grace + law added
That: endure to the end to be saved (only) by grace (only)

or are we limited to thinking that an idol can only be a material object, like a statue, or a big gold cross?

I can't learn it right now, because my hands are full with German and Japanese. But I have half-Celtic ancestry (English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish), so would eventually one day like to add a Celtic language to the list of ones I know.

I know that Welsh is the healthiest in terms of survival (Wales still has a strong linguistic identity unlike Scotland and Ireland - and growing), but how easy is it compared to the others?

Are Scottish Gaelic and Irish essentially just novelty languages today? Are are they still used in significant numbers elsewhere.

Thanks for reading and for the upcoming answers.

I keep reading in Wiccan books that women have their menstrual cycles in tune with moon phases.

If you know anything about this, do share.

Number 1:

ZER0 C00L asked a question earlier about In 2 Kings 2:23-24 in which Elisha was mocked by 42 youths, and God sent a couple of bears out to kill them.

The reaction of SOME of the Christians was glee, in that God was glorified, without any heed of the massacre that had occurred or the grief that was caused.

Here's the link to the original question, where you can read some of the reactions: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070803163529AAAfb0z

----------

Number 2:
On September 11, 2001, planes crashed into NY's World Trade Center, the Pentagon, & one in PA.

Following the deaths of over 3000 people, Palestinians were seen dancing in the streets of Jordan, etc., gleeful that God had been glorified, heedless of the massacre that had occurred or the grief that was caused.

----------

So in these instances, what is the differences between the celebrating Christians and the celebrating Palestinians? Or is it a distinction without a difference?

Heres my simple question. I am a god believer but I don't call my self christian or catholic or whatever. See one thing I don't like about religions is that they add a whole bunch of things like to go do a communion and coffessions. God didn't say go tell your problems to a priest! He didn't say you have to eat a piece of bread to be healed! He just said pick up your cross and follow me. Nothing more than a simple instruction! This world makes believing in God as if your a sinner that you can't believe in him or something! God did say to get baptized in water as John the Baptist did for Jesus did so. Read the bible and see what the truth is don't just go into a church and do what the priest does! Just get a relationship with God and thats it! None of that eat a bread stuff! Just repent! He sent his only son to die for our sins and it doesn't matter what you've done you just need to repent. God knows that we couldn't be perfect but all he wants is for us to get closer to him!!

For instance, if someone were teased for being bald, it would be immoral for him to have 42 of the taunters mauled to death by wild bears.... BUT.... if God has 42 taunters mauled to death by wild bears, God is in the clear and we are not to question his judgment.

SO.... that leads me to assume that the morality God commands us to obey does not in any way apply to him. Is that because he's God? Because he's "in charge"? Because he "owns the place"?
