Because part of God's plan for every believers life is for them to be transformed into the image of Jesus. Jesus wasn't a hypocrite and Christians are called to remember how they deserve damnation but God gave them a break so they can't go around holding a grudge against people when God doesn't hold a grudge against them.

Forgivenss is an index into ones character. One must love before one can forgive. God calls us to love those who have injured us in some way. We must forgive them even as we seek forgiveness for our sins from God.

Why should He? It's simple enough. Forgive others and God will forgive you.

Perhaps you could Quote the VERSE... you are Speaking About?

(Matthew 6:14-15) For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

(Matt 6:15) But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

IS THIS THE ONE?

The KEY.... is YOUR Heavenly Father!

All men..... ARE NOT.... BROTHERS!

See John 8:44 and Matthew 7:15-to-23.

Real Forgivenss.... BELONGS...... Only to THE REAL....... FAMILY OF GOD......!

(1Timothy 1:19-20) Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

(1Tim 1:20) Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander;

whom I have delivered unto Satan,

that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Thanks, RR

Its about perfection. If we dont forgive then we may think we have never commited any mistakes but then all of us make mistakes. Therefore we must forgive first to be forgiven. God is the king of Justice. If we dont forgive then we are in other words waiting for our own trial!

Setting aside that God is not real, I believe in forgiveness in almost all instances. It's the persistently mean, hurtful types that I would be unable to forgive until they changed.

It's just another contradiction from the bible which leads believers to waste their lives doing what is "righteous" in the hope that they will find salvation. Most people who deserve your forgiveness are beyond it anyway.
Do what you think is right, what feels right, not what is dictated to you by hypocrites.

Why should He if you don't? God is love and wants His people to love and forgive. I know its hard, but with Gods help we can do it.

Why would I ask the forgiveness of a fictitious god? You should ask forgiveness to the person you caused pain and/or suffering.

Right. Jesus said that if we do not forgive others' sin against us, the Father will not forgive our sins. We have a direct order from Christ to do this, otherwise, our sins are piling up.
