hindering. there are many different religions and to focus on just one is (going to sound childish) unfair. Just because others do not believe like the leaders of the western world do, does not mean they should have to suffer for it. Christians believe that everyone should believe as they do, and I am sure other religions feel the same way. But you don't see Shinto priest going door to door preaching their word or a Wiccan politician demanding that the christian clubs be taken out of schools. The process needs to be equal and fair or pretty soon, this country will be a dictatorship, ruled by one religion. and then no one will have a say.

Yes and no. Because of Christianity--specifically the Reformation and the printing press--more people started to read. That lead to more civilized ways of life and more thought. Because of Christianity many countries found a common ground under. Because of Christianity there has been blood shed. Because of the influence of Christianity to the far right a man is in an office who is perhaps not that qualified to be there and he decided to lead a nation into which has led to a war which isn't exactly sensible without an exact plan of getting out of it. So yes and no.

It helps western civilization by acting as a check upon the godless moral relativity of secular humanism that teaches people that there is no such thing as absoute truth or right and wrong.

It hurts because it gets in the way of getting rid of unpatriotic, subversive leftists. It can weaken our resolve and make uis feel sorry for all the rats in their tunnels or slithering snakes that hide underneath rocks ready to rape our daughters. :-)~
I am so tired of "loaded" questions about faith/spirtuality or religion. I would love to lock up a pentacostal minister with a 20-something atheist and watch those two buffoons go at it like meathead and Archie.

All I know is that regardless of what Religion I was, I'd rather live in a Christian Nation where I'm free to believe whatever I want and they have laws to protect you from discrimination etc.
Contrast that with being a Hindu, Jew or Christian living in a strict Muslim Country and how badly you would be treated there.
Are people queuing up to migrate to Judeo-Christian Countries or are they queuing up to get into Muslim and other Countries?

I think it would be a very positive thing if it was the sole belief, because everyone would agree (ha, well, theoretically). But for that to happen, many people would be denying their real feelings, and the negativity of that would cancel out the positivity achieved. Whcih could be said about any religion really.
Thats not completely what I meant, it was better in my head.

It hinders far more than it helps. It provides a code of ethics for the stupid people in society, but a better code of ethics wouldn't take up the large percentage of overall human creativity that organized religion takes up.
