Or do we always have to find blame?

Not speaking on any one thing in particular... but one example was hurricane Katrina. It was a hurrcane for God's sake yet somehow George Bush was responsible.

OK, the response to Katrina by both the Federal and the state government was abysmal . . .

That said, when people sue because they slipped and fell or whatever, I think in many cases they are either (a) greedy and trying to make a buck (supermarkets routinely use their video cameras to catch fake slip n fall cases: people dump food on the floor and pretend to have fallen because of it in order to sue) and (b) yes, people seem to have a psychological need to find that someone or something is at fault when something terrible happens, like a baby is born with defects. If no one is at fault, it means that no one has control and terrible things can just happen without warning.

To admit that there are times where we have no control over the things that will happen in our lives, or in our surroundings would also mean admitting that we do not have the power to control our destiny.

This is not an easy task since it goes against our human nature to admit that there are things we are completely powerless in preventing.

To find blame, and affix it to someone, or something gives many the illusion that as long as someone can be blamed there is a solution that should have been provided, and implemented.

This kind of thinking has done more harm than good, and starts a vicious cycle of the blame game without end.

no, it's in our nature to try and find someone to blame or at least a reason for this or that event. that's why people believe in the concept of hell and are so easily swayed when what they conceive of as a more powerful force declares that something or someone is harmful. people like to believe that life is fair.

Todays society seems to always have to have someone to blame for everything and they usually blame the one who has the most money for them to sue.

why?
idk.
yeah, bad stuff happens, but covering it on cnn for 3 days straight WILL not change anything.
cover the story and go on.

As long as someone can be found responsible, someone can be blamed.
