carnation-soul and wize woman: Thanks for the input, but Cheers! in Chinese either got Mandarin and Cantonese mixed up or the Cantonese was a "corrupted" form of the modern Japanese version of "Cheers" which was derived from the original Cantonese term.

as a learner of so many languages, I'm disappointed that you haven't detected this. How many languages do you really speak by the way? I've seen you post in many languages. You said you are Greek? You speak Chinese, etc...?!

the website is good, but carnation-soul forgot to mention that the Norwegian term is the same as the Danish: skål, even though it's on that website.
