Joseph Smith stated the following:
"For instance, the descendants of Cain cannot cast off their skin of blackness, at once, and immediately, although every soul of them should repent, obey the Gospel, and do right from this day forward. . . . Cain and his posterity must wear the mark, which God put upon them; and his white friends may wash the race of Cain with fuller’s soap every day, they cannot wash away God’s mark; The Lamanites, through transgression, became a loathsome, ignorant and filthy people, and were cursed with a skin of darkness … yet, they have the promise, if they will believe, and work righteousness, that not many generations shall pass away before they shall become a white and delightsome people; but it will take some time to accomplish this at best"

Assuming precognition is a real thing, where or how would it fit in Christianity? If it were a gift of the Holy Spirit, which of the gifts would it otherwise be called? Do you think that a Christian could have precognition and that it wouldnt be in conflict with Christianity?
Just a few questions to spark your thoughts.

To quote a REM song:
"Everybody Hurts Sometime"

Everybody hurts sometime - you know it
(you know it)
And everybody loves soemtime - don't be afraid to show it
If you don't get a little hurt sometime
If you don't dig a little dirt sometime
You ain't living at all

Love and affection - is the sweetest thing
But when love turns sour - it ain't a sin
It's a bitter pill but it turns to bitter - sweet - within
And it's on any street - everybody hurts
Sometime

Happiness is a young mans dream
But it don't come easy - know what i mean?
Gotta chase it down the street
right to that last scene
Run down that illusion
try to live your dream

Cos everybody hurts sometime - you know it
And everybody loves sometime - don't be afraid to show it
And if you don't get a little hurt sometimes
If you don't dig a little dirt sometimes
You ain't living at all

Many hugs to All!~! I like hugs!!

Namaste

Peace and Love

Why do Mormons get flak for believing humans become god if you're just going to believe that you will live forever in perfect bliss? At least with LDS, there's a truly infinite continuum. I also don't know how you can say Joseph Smith was a false prophet and then just believe the prophets of the New Testaments, most living decades even centuries after Jesus died. Buddha lived thousands of years before Jesus, and he didn't have anyone write his teachings but him.

My mother in law (Catholic) feels its a duty to visit the Vatican at least once in a lifetime. I know other faiths have similar ideas. Would any of you consider this your duty or even attempt to visit these sites as part of your learning path in faith? Would you also be interested in visiting sacred sites of other faiths?

"[The waters] rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet."
No ambiguity here. And there is no reason for God to lie about it. Mt. Everest was 20 feet underwater.
The peak of Mount Everest rises about 29,000 feet above sea level -- nearly five and a half miles high. That means that the earth was covered, in its entirety, with water 5.5 miles deep. This creates several important problems:

Where did all this water (approximately 10 times more water than there is on earth today) come from, and where did it all go?
If you assume that God magically imported the water from somewhere and then took it away again, you still have a problem with the fish. If God imported 5.5 miles of fresh water, the fresh water would have killed all of the salt water fish species.

I'm trying to translate bits of text from a school report card type document into English and the word "javitóvizsga" is giving me trouble. Any help would be appreciated, especially if you could give me a base root word that I might have better luck hunting down in online dictionaries or translation software for confirmation.

Thanks!

I posted this question about half an hour ago but for some reason the additional detailks didn't appear,
so here is the answer of the question
The status of women in Islam is often the target of attacks in the secular media. The ‘hijaab’ or the Islamic dress is cited by many as an example of the ‘subjugation’ of women under Islamic law. Before we analyze the reasoning behind the religiously mandated ‘hijaab’, let us first study the status of women in societies before the advent of Islam

1. In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust

The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was very low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:

Babylonian Civilization:
The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.
