I live in the Bible Belt, and my church is not segregated. As far back as I can remember, or have even heard about from the elderly members, it never has been. We have parishioners from many different races and ethnic groups. However, I do know what you're talking about. Certainly, segregation in general was influenced by outside social and legal forces, and in some cases, this probably affected the churches, as well. However, there are some religious groups in the South that were desegregated well before the heyday of civil rights activism.

I have lived in different parts of the Bible belt, where race played different roles. In Oklahoma (the most churched place I've lived), there weren't any race issues. In North Carolina where I live now, there is race issues. It's sad that race is still such a big deal in how people treat one another.

Very possibly. The problem is many people in the Bible belt have ignored the teachings on how to treat other people and have chosen to put human prejudice above God's love.

If you are referring to the news media I agree. If

NOT,

I would disagree because, the North and the West did not really care or seeming did not care, until they saw what they saw on the television screens during the evening news; especially when caring White people, who publicly tried helping Colored persons, were shown on the tv screens, being treated the same if not worse for helping us.

I live in the Bible Belt. I can speak only for myself. I teach black, white, and Hispanic children. They are all the same and are treated the same by all of the teachers in my school.

I wonder what the point of your question is. That is in the past; let it go.

I am sorry to tell you but the north and east are by far the most bigoted and racist areas of this country. People in the south have learned to live together, have you?
