Buddha didn't write any of his teachings down, they were written down years and years later... The gospels in the New Testament are not by prophets, they were written by some times the apostle and some times by people writing in their name. Again, written between 50 and 100 years after Jesus died. Most of the teachings in the NT were passed down orally before they were written -from the time of Jesus and the apostles, but Jesus was the only prophet - according to the NT and the church fathers. There were many other Christian groups then, after Jesus died, that had prophets, and they were all deemed heretical by the forming church for many reasons..mostly because they believed that Jesus was the messiah-so there should not be any more prophets. So you can kindof see why the Mormons get blasted so much.
I think that the Mormons get flack because relatively speaking, they are a "new" sect of Christianity, and get criticized much like the Lutherans and Protestants did when that revolution happened. And the fact that Joseph Smith was said to be a prophet makes it worse for them. Plus people are always afraid of what they don't know.
Personally I love the idea that we become God when we die, and it coincides with many Christian "gnostic" gospels/texts that date the same time as the texts of the NT.
Sorry for such a long answer.

Joseph Smith was an obvious con man. It is amazing anyone believes the Book of Mormon is real, especially since there is no evidence whatsoever that the "golden tablets" even existed, there is no evidence of a "great civilization" living in the America's about 2000 years ago, and there is no DNA evidence of any connection between Native Americans and people from the Middle East. It's is so obviously made up, you have to be living in a complete fantasy world to believe any of it.
And for the record, all religions are false as god does not exist. For some reason though, Mormons seem to be particularly gullible in believing this nonsense.

I agree with your statements. To believe anything you don't have a knowledge about nor an understanding, takes faith.
I don't have a precise knowledge about how electricity functions, but I have faith that it exists, as I have seen evidence of it. Likewise, I have less than a perfect knowledge about Godhood and man's potential to become such, but I have evidence of it from reading the scriptures.
It just takes faith. While some say it is gullibility, I describe it as faith.

Wishing it, don't make it so.
But to answer your question: Mormonism gets so much flak because it was created pretty much within living memory, with its origins much more available to skeptical examination.
But if it makes you feel any better, Paul was laughed at and dismissed as a crackpot cult leader in his own time, also....

Well first of all, in the bible its says that their is only ONE God. If everyone who died became a god, then that would be as of now there are billions of gods up in heaven. That is definitely not true. I believe the bible because it was written by prophets through whom the living God spoke.

Have you ever really 'STUDIED' the LDS religion? Have you ever really studied and read about Joseph Smith? I'm not talking about the knowledge you were brainwashed with..I'm talking about an open minded 'personal' study...a study of all the 'mormon' dogma. Put your book of mormon aside, along with your pearls of great price and really study.

Sweetie, there so much evidence against Smith being an "old time" prophet, it's almost funny. 'Almost' means so many people have been duped by the mormon Lie and a Hoax. Doesn't matter if they promote the happy-dappy afterlife. The premise is false, pure and simple.
