A stripper factory? Gross. Makes me shudder, and not in a good way.

That's why I can never believe in a FSM who promotes such objectification of women.

No complaints about the beer volcano, though.

I was just wondering. I was doing something somewhere and Sesame Street was on. I wasn't really paying attention, but I heard this song that Ernie was singing that caught my attention. I looked up and started listening and it brought back a warm, childhood feeling.

I used to love Sesame Street. I still watch it every once in a while. I think it's funny how Ernie keeps Bert from going to sleep and, oh yeah, I absolutely adore Elmo. :-)

"Michael Jursa, a visiting professor from Vienna, let out such a cry last Thursday. He had made what has been called the most important find in Biblical archaeology for 100 years, a discovery that supports the view that the historical books of the Old Testament are based on fact."

Why then do we feel that prayer is the answer?Would jesus demonstrate something that wasn't possible for us?Didn't he instruct his disciples to go out into the world and do the same? Why have most religions glossed over this important part of Jesus's teachings?

May someone please explain the full ritual, of the 5 prayers a day? Like, what is required? I find this ritual extremely confusing and I would really appreciate someone explaining the full concept to me. And please, no hate comments. I'm not an arab, or a terrorist, or any other stereotype people conjure up these days concerning Islam.

Peace be upon you all.

You are God by The Katinas expresses it well:

Creator of all things
Healer of my being
Through your righteousness
I've been redeemed
Forgiven by your grace
Your joy is my strength
When everything has changed
you stay the same

You are God
Bright and Morning Star
When I'm down you lift me up
You're the Lover of my heart
You are God
Mender of my soul
You're the rain that makes my whole
You are God

Ever-present help
Savior of my life
Everything I have belongs to you
My time is in your hands
My purpose is your will
I know that you'll provide
so I'II be still

You are God
Bright and Morning Star
When I'm down you lift me up
You are the Lover of my heart
You are God
Mender of my soul
You are the rain that makes my whole

You are the One
that delivers me
It's not because of what I am
but who You are

Chorus (2X)

You are God
You're my provider
When I'm down
You lift me higher
When I'm weak
You are the fire
that turns me into gold
You are God

I was thinking about my love, and then I looked up and saw a perfect heart in the sky. Do you think this means anything? Are we meant to be?

The word itself doesnt mean that (its used when jesus washed his hands in the same manner)

Some denominations think it is symbolic of a new life.
does the Bible ever say that infants or young children can be baptized? The indications are clear. In the New Testament we read that Lydia was converted by Paul’s preaching and that "She was baptized, with her household" (Acts 16:15). The Philippian jailer whom Paul and Silas had converted to the faith was baptized that night along with his household. We are told that "the same hour of the night . . . he was baptized, with all his family" (Acts 16:33). And in his greetings to the Corinthians, Paul recalled that, "I did baptize also the household of Stephanas" (1 Cor. 1:16).

In all these cases, whole households or families were baptized. This means more than just the spouse; the children too were included. If the text of Acts referred simply to the Philippian jailer and his wife, then we would read that "he and his wife were baptized," but we do not. Thus his children must have been baptized as well. The same applies to the other cases of household baptism in Scripture.

Granted, we do not know the exact age of the children; they may have been past the age of reason, rather than infants. Then again, they could have been babes in arms. More probably, there were both younger and older children. Certainly there were children younger than the age of reason in some of the households that were baptized, especially if one considers that society at this time had no reliable form of birth control. Furthermore, given the New Testament pattern of household baptism, if there were to be exceptions to this rule (such as infants), they would be explicit.

I started thinking, "What if someone had written Harry Potter a thousand-years ago?" Would that be a religion? The Church of Harry Potter! It's got all the trappings. Magic, prophecy, a lot of other nonsense.

It might be getting a little old but I wanted to check this out with people.

Protestants keep quoting the bible as the authority for saying that certain catholic practices are wrong.

However Catholics believe that protestants interpret the bible wrong.

So its a circular argument, you could say "the bible says ..." but then I can say "who says the bible is the final authority"

The bible doesnt, in fact the bible warns agains protestants interpreting the bible as a source in itself without Church tradition and history.

So what is the answer, I get people saying the bible says a,b,c, but big deal, the bible isint God, nor is it the only or final revelation of God it is just one way God has expressed himself but it isint the sola way.

You can say certain practices are not biblical, but only using the bible as authority isint biblical at all.

No, when you search for something many of the results will be jumblings of the original search. Many of the questions will only have the words, religion and spirituality. Many might only have the word atheist in common with the original set of words. Now, I'm sure that question has been asked many too many times. But to say it's been asked 37,000 is a stretch, especially if you're only going off of search results.

New twist on an old question:

Atheists, why ARE we here, on R&S?

Can you please describe why you enjoy being on the R&S section moreso than other sections in Y!A so that maybe we can stop reading the question of "Why are Atheists in R&S?"

And before you ask: Yes, you can drink to this question.
