Your black friends like movies based solely on the color of the skin of the actors? And they make fun of you and pressure you to only like "black comedies". That makes them racists.
I watch movies and read books because they're funny, or they interest me, or I just plain like them, REGARDLESS of the color of the skin of the actors. And I don't pressure my white friends to only watch movies that feature white actors.
Sounds to me like you need a new set of friends.

I can understand why you would be questioned for liking "Harry Potter". This is a book/movie that leans toward witchcraft and the like. Many blacks that I have spoken with over the years since the first book/movie have been against it. I believe it is also disliked possibly because of the 'fantasy' theme and that has little appeal to blacks.
I am an 8th grade school teacher and I can only speak for what I have seen in my classes for the last couple of years - all the white students- girls first, then boys are into "Harry Potter", and maybe less than 1 percent of the black students (girls and boys) care anything about the book.
What is so very ironic about all of this is - my own daughter - loves Harry Potter! And she is now 21, but followed every book and every movie, I have attended two of the movies and honestly - I was bored stiff. I am not a 'fantasy' movie-goer and I went straight to sleep.
Don't feel bad that you like something that many of your friends don't. Everybody is different and has their own style, likes and dislikes. You are unique and should not feel bad because of your personal choices.
My thought - whatever encourages reading, questions, intrigue, imagination - thinking outside the box - I'm all for it.

Okay, there are black representation in the movies and books.
And if J.k Rowling knew what your friends were saying
I'm sure she'd be offended.
I'm black and I LOVE Harry Potter. I even got my sister
into the movies and. conviced her to read aHarry potter book
and guess what? She enjoyed it! (She developed a crush on
Ron lol)
So ignore your because it's them missing on the biggest
movie and book series of all time and tell them that everytime
they insult you. And remember , we are the Potter generation!

I don't see ANY reason that blacks shouldn't like people involved in the potting industry. Rather they be hairy, shaggy or even bald.
These hard working Americans deserve the recpect due to them for all the londg arduos years of toil, potting and growing Americas food products and flowers.
Their hard work determination and courage has proved to be cornerstone of American society. ...Black people have benefited from potter's of all hair groups for years and should salute the industry instead of laughing at it!
Oh, wait a minute...
Excuse me., my caucassion secretary just imformed me that the question was about HARRY POTTER, NOT HAIRY POTTERS.,,,
I would like to change my answer to:
Ha HA Ha HA Ha, (place weird look here).........

I don't see why not, If you like it you like it there is no clause in your black contract that says if you like Harry Potter then your not black. Tell your folks to stop being ignorant and get over the whole idea of being black means you cant like anything white.....Harry Potter only sees green....

Are Black people represented in Harry Potter novels? I don't know personnally, but if not, that's probably why they think that you should'nt read it. However, there is still value found in reading, whatever race you are, and perhaps we should'nt expect absolute racial equality in our fiction. It is, after all, just a story. Tell your friends that when they write a book, you will be happy to read it.
