Why then do we feel that prayer is the answer?Would jesus demonstrate something that wasn't possible for us?Didn't he instruct his disciples to go out into the world and do the same? Why have most religions glossed over this important part of Jesus's teachings?

The question was not whether or not Jesus prayed, but rather why was this not his method for healing disease.

Jesus's disciples were not Gods, but yet Jesus instructed them to go out into the world and heal. Why did he expect something of them that they weren't capable of doing?

yes,we have the power to do the same just as the apostles did but we don't have the true faith of the apostles had. there belief in JESUS was so strong that they could do what JESUS did without prayer. but today in our world we have turned away from GOD and therefore we are incapable of being like the apostles. back in the time of the BIBLE people literally lived for hundreds of years you don't see that anymore. we gloss over that in our churches today out of fear and ignorance of our BIBLES.

There are two ways in scripture to heal. One is through prayer, and the other is by giving a priesthood blessing. The former is a plea for Heavenly Fathers help. The latter uses the power and authority given by Christ. Since many churches do not claim priesthood authority, they don't use it.

I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

Jesus is God...but he did tell us to command healing..he told us to say in the name of Jesus be healed...just most people are not walking a straight enough path for God to really work like that through them...So people pray, which is not a bad thing..Plus a lot of people do not understand they can be healed by God through another person, and if they do not truly believe they can be healed, then they won't be (in most cases). Most Christian denominations have glossed over this part of teachings of Christ because they are scared of what God can really do.

first of all - Jesus did pray for others to have faith to be healed. So that is wrong-
second of all- We cannot heal - only Jesus can- we can pray that in Jesus' name. No one who claims to be a faith healer really is -unless they pray for His healing power. Yes, He did instruct others to do the same, but not on their own, but through the power of Jesus. Prayer is not the power, but God behind the prayer is!!

Jesus was a man of prayer.

Read the Scriputres: When Jesus healed a man of a serious case of leprosy, the news spread quickly, right?

Consequently, "crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses" (Luke. 5:15).

We would expect Jesus to rejoice at the myriads of opportunities to heal.

Instead, He "often withdrew to lonely places and prayed" (Luke 5:16).

Did you forget how before he wasn't taken away by the Romans he went off to pray? Prayer is supposed to be private between you and God.

It isn't the prayer itself, but the Faith behind the prayer.

Faith is the power, Prayers gives direction to that Faith.

Most people don't believe they have the power to command an ailment to depart...primarily because most people don't believe they are God. Hey, Criss Angel walks on water.

Because it doesn't work. At least with prayer they don't have to produce immediate results, they can simply say that "healing is on the way!"

Jesus actually did pray as you might recall before he was crucified. It's supposed to act as communion between you and God.
