I was raised christian, and now I dont think I believe in a higher power, but if I'm really frightened I'll pray.......like a reflex, like when I was a kid.

Do other atheists ever do this? Do you have to be religious to pray? What is prayer? Is it similar to hope? As an atheist I'm not uncaring, I've hoped that things would work out for people I've cared.

Hope is comforting, no? Or am I just weak?

My dear friend killed himself. and i pray and pray and i loved him. he was a great person.how to think about this, i am so sad.i want him to be their in heaven if i get their.he was really such a fine wonderful person.

So why say Al Qaeda represents all muslims if this does not represent all Chrstians? Christian Identity, along with KKK, are even allowed to host parades in public and get protection from the police. What justifies this? Should I blame every Christian out there for their actions, especially Rosewood? That wouldn't make much sense, now would it? How about having the same rationale and realizing that there are fringe elements of extremism on all sides, and that the majority are peace loving peoples who are trying to adhere to the true message of their faiths/non faiths.

I have been thinkng about becoming mormon. but I am very confused due to all the negativity about the LDS Church and Mormons in general. I am also not so sure about this whole, not tea and no sodas thing. I am also bothered by the fact, that many consider them a cult or non-christian.
I have very similar beliefs...family oritented, having similar morals.
I am not a church goer, so maybe there are other religions that I could explore, but don't want to spend the next 5 years going from church to church to find "my place"
Any suggestions...please serious answers only.

Why are there so many women that do not take responsibility for there actions? Sometimes i come to yahoo answers and just sit here and read answers and questions that women post and answer. The one thing i notice is there lack of self responsibility. I read 1 that seems to think that she should be able to walk around in public naked and not get raped. There is another one that just can't seem to understand that all men are not going to like nose rings. What is it with some of these women that they don't seem to understand that when they are single it's how they portray themselves to other people that matters. For instance' A Good guy you might could get will not pay any attention to you because to him you look like a walking pin cushion. Then the woman/girl can't figure out why she can't get a good man. This question is not meant to be inflamitory. I just like trying to figure out what makes some people tick.
