Why are the letters on the ambulance mirrored? Everyone that I ask has no clue.?

So you can see it in the rear view mirror. I would hope though, that most people would hear the siren and flashing light LONG before I get close enough for you to read the hood of my ambulance...:)

They are written backward so that they can be read through a rearview mirror in a car. A person who is hearing impaired can still drive!

So you can see in a mirror? Like a rear view mirror when it is behind you...
