I was thumbing through the TV stations and she was rambling on pretending like she was preaching and I thought..."What the heck I will watch here for 5 minutes and get a good laugh"...well It was worth the 5 minutes. She was trying to explain how the Old Testament was written and she said it was mostly oral tradition passed down from generations and such. I had no problem with that but then again any amature Bible student could figure that out. She then said that Abrahams father was alive during the last years of Adam...OOOOOOH COME ON. I really hope she didn't mean to say that but I am afraid she meant what she said. She obviously hasn't read the Bible much if she believes Adam was alive when Abrahams father was young. Adam was LONG before the flood and Terah was after the flood. My friends if she will have you believing these SMALL lies she will have your believing BIG lies.

A mild temper helps Jehovah’s people to be submissive and to keep their place in his organization. (Philippians 2:5-8, 12-14; Hebrews 13:17) Mildness restrains us from seeking glory, which is based on pride and is offensive to God. (Proverbs 16:5) A mild person does not consider himself superior to fellow believers, and he does not try to excel at their expense. (Matthew 23:11, 12) Instead, he acknowledges his sinful state and his need for God’s ransom provision. -- Watchtower, October 15, 1991, p 14

that no one really knows whats going on? We rationalize, judge, and question. The more we seek for answers the more questions we have. It's like having two mirrors face each other, the further you gaze into it the further you go. You will never find an end.

I was talking to a co-worker who is Jewish the other day. He was telling me that Jews don't believe in satan. But then he was telling me something about how everyone spends a certain amount of time in hell after they die. Can anyone clarify for me? Im interested in Judism, but this just doesn't make sense to me!

Spare us all the usual Fundy claim that it's not in 'our bible,' it's only in the Old Testament, which, of course, is not the word of God, yes? Yet, when it's convenient to Fundies, you toss OT verses smack in one's face, as "proof" about this, that, or the other nonsence. Read below: it's bloody obscene! If I were a Christian, which, thank god, I am not, the last I would do is attempt to defend this holy dance with inhumanity.

"Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children." (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

There has been a lot of traffic regarding the Pope's latest statement. Following is what is reported by MSNBC and yahoo news:

It restates key sections of a 2000 document the pope wrote when he was prefect of the congregation, "Dominus Iesus," which set off a firestorm of criticism among Protestant and other Christian denominations because it said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation."

Following is what can be copied from a catholic news source:

Noting that churches and ecclesial communities not yet fully in communion with the Catholic Church “suffer from defects,” the doctrinal congregation acknowledged that “elements of sanctification and truth” may be present in them.

God's rules aren't that hard to follow. Do you think that being a Christian is THAT horrible? The two MAIN rules is love God and love others as yourself. It seems to me that many of you do that already. Atheists would make great Christians. Why not try (at least) to believe in God/Jesus and have everlasting life? Is it God's rules that keep you away or is it a bad experience with Christians and/or the church that has caused you to not believe?

One more thing, is it the fact that you want to do what you want to do when you want to do it that makes you an atheist? If that is the fact, Christians can do whatever they want to do too. It is just that there are certain things that we should avoid in order to live a clean life that is pleasing to God. But we have free will/choice just like you.

I know you don't believe because you don't see. It takes a very strong person to believe in something they cannot see. If you were to TRY to believe, God would "show" himself to you in your heart

I believe that a child should be raised in a house that has a man and a woman, not two men or two women intimately invlolved. Won't the child get the wrong idea or be teased at school? Are gays thinking of the welfare of the child? By the way, didn't God make man and woman so the child would have a man and woman that are intimate raising them, not two men or two women? Will homosexuality be forced on the child? What will the child think when their best friend has a "mommy" and "daddy?"

People in New York are being encouraged to give up bottled water to help save the environment. City officials have launched an advertising campaign encouraging people to drink tap water - which they say cuts down on waste and saves on transport. What about us in Britain? We look at the environmental cost of bottled water and the cultural embarrassment in restaurants of asking for tap water
