There has been a lot of traffic regarding the Pope's latest statement. Following is what is reported by MSNBC and yahoo news:
It restates key sections of a 2000 document the pope wrote when he was prefect of the congregation, "Dominus Iesus," which set off a firestorm of criticism among Protestant and other Christian denominations because it said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation."
Following is what can be copied from a catholic news source:
Noting that churches and ecclesial communities not yet fully in communion with the Catholic Church “suffer from defects,” the doctrinal congregation acknowledged that “elements of sanctification and truth” may be present in them.

“It follows that these separated churches and communities … are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation,” the congregation said. “In fact, the spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation, whose value from that fullness of grace and of truth which has been entrusted to the Catholic Church.”

Don't let yourself be brainwashed by a media that likes to build readership with imflammatory reporting.

Unfortunately, people would rather get a little news bite from MSNBC and CNN than actually READ the entire document themselves and draw their own conclusions - that would require an actual thought process.

The Truth of The Salvation Message is Not taught by the Roman catholic cult... their own law forbids priests and even the pope from teaching or stateing The Truth of The Salvation Message... the pope himself can not state that he even knows if he is going to Heaven or not... ALL True Christians know for certain that their Salvation is assured and that their place in Heaven is assured... No one who only knows the teaching of the RCs can know The Truth of Salvation.
All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. Those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven

If it bleeds it leads. Whatever is the most controversial and heated topic of the day will get the most press. Believe little of what you see and read in the media. Do research on your own. Don't believe the hype machines that is mainstream media.

I'm sure I'm not. I;m Buddhist, therefore belive in myself, contemplate life, and live to the highest potential that I can. I could care less about what the celebs and other stupid catagories think and are doing, poor souls.

I think that anyone that uses the media as an excuse for behavior is lacking in cognitive skills.

¬Well the best way to gain followers is to instill fear. In this case, non Catholics will read the articles and worry that they will not be "saved" unless they follow the pope. Reason #1 as to why I do not believe in organized religion.
