Your question is well worth considering. In years past, I have checked it out. One conclusion I came to after a lot of reading was that there are definitely people clever enough to do this. Before that, I concluded that is was a good idea, because it allowed more progress. Then I applied statistical principles and source analysis and found that the chances of it being true were so negligible that they could be ignored. You can certainly do this for yourself. The scientific approach is the way to go here, don't you agree?

That just doesn't make sense.
Human nature says that if someone were to make up something, like religion, then they'd have to get some personal power or thrill out of it.
The followers of Christ have never had personal power or much of anything. Now there are those who have misused religion for their own benefit...but I'm talking about the originators. The Apostles...why would they make it up? What possible personal benefit did they get if it was all a lie? They all died the death of martyrs. Christians were persecuted for centuries.
How is it that you think religion has kept society organized? I don't think that at all.

You know..it would have been a remarkable & effective way to control the people. As the early cultures had many "gods" for just such reasons...
However in the case of the God of Abraham, Issac & Jacob..the Hebrew God...the One & Only God, there is a difference, and in today's advanced technological age..YOU too can discover the TRUTH.....all you have to do is seek Him with ALL your heart, mind & soul.
The Truth is out there!

It was created for that purpose but they couldn't market it as a philosophy so they had to add fairy tales in it and force people to believe in it as the word of god.

It was created because of that and it's very profitable. People will pay any price to win a good afterlife.

It was created to control the people. Except it is now outdated but people are ignorant and closed minded enough to follow it.

Hypothetically, it started out that way. But there'd still be disorder.

What do you mean "what if"? I think it's pretty obvious that's exactly what happened.
