http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070710/ap_on_re_eu/pope_other_christians

It restates key sections of a 2000 document the pope wrote when he was prefect of the congregation, "Dominus Iesus," which set off a firestorm of criticism among Protestant and other Christian denominations because it said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation."

So, I guess if we are not Roman Catholics and not recognize the pope we are not saved.

What you guys think of this?

If so, please explain why. I have seen many posts on Yahoo today regarding this subject and it seems there are many Protestants upset about being condemned to Hell for their differing beliefs. Do you not think it is a double standard to be upset about this statement while many, not all but many, of you condemn so many non-believers and non-Christians for having beliefs that differ from yours?

From the beginning God provided prophets, scripture, revelations, visions, miracles, etc. to teach and edify his people.

Did all of that end with the death of Jesus Christ and his Apostles?

Does God still speak today?

If he is the same yesterday today and forever wouldn't you think that all of those things would still occur today?

Does he love us less than he loved those in ancient times?

In Revelations 19:10, 11 we read, "And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war."

Jesus is the essence of FAITH. He is the only One who is Faithful. In Mark 4:40 the Bible states, "And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?"

In Matthew 17:20 we read, "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

Notice that God says, "If ye had faith...." suggesting that unsaved man has no faith, ie., no Christ.

This is a very true story. Ok, even though I have not been in the office as much butI still go. In a couple of weeks, we will be doing evaluations. I am very hands on. Some say a bulldog or another word that starts with b, but anyway. This week, I have decided to sit in with the screeners while they do their interviews and take notes. Ok, this young man came in for his interview. Very intelligent, fresh out of college. I usually do not say a word during the interview. So anyway after the interview was over, I asked the screener, so what do you think? They said, a No Go. I said Why. They said because they did not take the time to make sure they were professionally dressed. I said he looked fine to me. They said did you see his shoes, he could have taken the time to at least polish them if this interview was that important. So, I did what I thought was right. Usually I just will sign off for a "reccomend to hire" when it comes accross my desk.

ok ive seen some videos on youtube about how the bible is "mostly fiction." Now I will admit that SOME of the bible to me seems a little too much. But does that make me any less of a christian to think that? I have been thinking about it but I need somone more educated on it to help me understand why the bible is fact.

We read in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9, "7And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

to those who claim that there is no life after death.............. How are you SURE of this fact ?
are there researches that asure your claim ?
i just want to know how you justify your claim?
for example, those who are killing innocent people, or those who are cheating, commit adultery and sin............... won't they be punished or just die without being asked from ALL Mighty God why and how you behaved in this way ?why you lead such miserable life ? why you harmed people lived peacefully ?those who would be punished........... and also come those who do good deeds, help others and seek the truth in everything, aren't those to be rewarded on their good deeds ? don't these people deserve better life than this that they lived on earth ?
you people because you know nothing about the " People of the Graves" and couldn't imagine how are they credited according to their deeds ? are they punished or rewarded ?
so you are at a mess.....and just believe in what you can see
answers plz.

Are you so positive that you've gotten it right the first time around that you won't change your opinion, despite a rational argument that still supports the existance of your God?

Is this from stubborness? Fear?

Tell me about your religions.
I really would like to learn about them.

I'm not a great believer in a personal God that watches everything you do and smites you for your bad.
I could somewhat believe in the afterlife or reincarnation [[however you spell it]].
I'm interested in what buddism really is.
Not the mainstream kind of buddism.

Tell me about them.
I really want to find something.
I guess you can call me...

2 Timothy 3:1-9 (KJV)

1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

A lot of Christians just take for granted the idea that God is omnipresent, omnipotent, etc...but do we really have a basis for it? The more I think about it, the more my answer becomes "no".

I've been researching a lot about "open theism" lately (as I've mentioned once or twice already), and it seems to be more on mark with what God actually is according to the Bible as opposed to according to Christian tradition. It holds that the God described in the Bible is the MOST powerful, MOST knowing, MOST loving, and MOST unchanging in his nature, but not omni-everything.

In scripture, he changed his mind and plans, voluntarily limited Himself in power, was surprised by events on Earth, was hurt, and paid attention to the pleas of men and angels. This is all contradictory to the omni-claim.

My question is: do you think that God is really omni-everything, or is that a construction of religion? How can we know for sure if there's not sufficient Biblical support? (More in details..)

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ." (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

"Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them." (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)

The worldwide flood that destroyed all life on earth except for Noah, his family, and the animals in the ark occurred in 4990 B.C. In 2 Peter 3 God refers back to this flood and then transitions to the destruction of the universe by fire. In verse 8 God says, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." This is interesting because God told Noah to get into the ark 7 days before He brought the worldwide flood (Genesis 7:4).

Multiplying 7 X 1000 = 7000 years (1 day=1000 years). Then 7000 years + 4990 BC = 2011 AD (year "0" must count for 1 year). Is this the year Christ will return as the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" to rapture the saints, destroy the universe bringing judgment on the ungodly, and create a new Heaven and Earth?

Before you answer, remember God told Abraham and Lot before He destroyed Sodom + Gomorrah.

**PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT STATING A DAY NOR HOUR; JUST The YEAR.

"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment." (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
