ok ive seen some videos on youtube about how the bible is "mostly fiction." Now I will admit that SOME of the bible to me seems a little too much. But does that make me any less of a christian to think that? I have been thinking about it but I need somone more educated on it to help me understand why the bible is fact.

You must not make the same mistake so many people do when reading the Bible. One cannot look at ancient texts written by people with limited experience about some very esoteric things that were meant to be taught to some very primitive people in a way they could understand. For instance, if a person back then saw a light shining there could only be two possible explanations. It was the sun or fire because to them there was no other kind of light.

There are also anecdotal stories and parables used to illustrate a point rather than descriptions of actual occurrences or people. The Bible is a compilation of the belief system of the Church or what is known as the Church's canon. It only includes works that the compilers (church officials) decided was within their own religions belief system. Anything that may have contradicted those beliefs was excluded.

It is not a history book or a science book. Depending on which version you have, it is the canon of a particular religion. It cannot be proven or disproven. It is a belief. That is what faith is all about. If it were simply a gathering of historical facts, no faith would be required.

Each church believes that they were inspired directly by God to establish their particular canon. Which is truely correct which is not? Not knowable. It is strictly by faith that we proceed.

So you see it is not accurate to say the Bible is fact. Fact is a scientific term. The Bible is the Canon of the church, they believe it is the word of God. Is that something less than fact or something greater than fact? Each must decide for himself which is the correct path. Not even the greatest scientist in the world can help you. This is the realm of the unknowable.

Such is faith.

I don't know if I would make such a simplistic statement. I would describe it this way:

The bible is many very different books. Some are records of old oral legends and mythology, some are priestly guides for ceremonies and sacrifices, some are fiction (like Job), some are collections of old songs or folk wisdom. In the New Testament there are collections of letters to other church leaders from the evangelist of a new religion, and four attempts at constructing an entertaining Earthly life story for the legendary hero of that new religion.

All the questions you have can be answered in the bible, it's ok to feel confused. Just keep on asking untill you found what you were looking for 2 timothy 3:16 says " All scripture is inspired of god, and beneficial for teaching, reproving, and setting things straight, that the man of god may be fully competent, compeletly equiped for every good work." Does this help a little?

I was born into a christian family, but from small I always had queries about the bible. But I was a good christian, then I went deeper into the bible and other religions and found all of them were same. Only the place and person were different. The teaching, the ten commandments, all are same

One of the BIGGEST tricks of Satan is to get people to doubt the Bible.
You seem to be falling for it, and I know the arguments the atheists come up with(and even some "scholarly Christians")
can be very true sounding, but the fact remains the Bible is true. Ask yourself, who would try to make you doubt God?
Who would be using such people?
Don't fall for it. If you do, you will believe nothing in the end.
Here's one question I would ask you- What they are trying to get you to believe is that an ALMIGHTY GOD has been UNABLE to preserve His words for a mere few thousand years. Do you think God is unable?

The Bible is the beliefs of ancient primitive people whose highest intellect told them that the earth was flat. If you could be transported back to biblical times with a cigarette lighter, you would be worshipped as God because, you could make fire come from your hands, while biblical people had to work for 30 min to produce a flame.

The short answer is that it isn't. It has hundreds of errors, as well as dozens of internal contradictions, so the whole thing should be treated as fiction: no part of it should be considered credible unless supported by outside evidence.

Sorry, but it's not. Starting with the creation story that claims plants existed before the sun did... how ridiculous is that?

big flaw in your assumption - someone "more educated" would not be able to say the Bible is fact - education will show you that it is a hodgepodge of mythology and fairy tales, mixed with oppressive, racist laws
