And before people say this has never been a part of Christianity (despite being in the Bible, but...), these verses really were used to prop up the slavery institution.
While some say this is just a relic of the times, why would a perfect, moral, all-powerful god allow these sorts of statements to get into her holy book? There's a wire crossed somewhere.

You are quoting the basis of the Protestant work ethic.
Paul obviously was more worried about Christians setting a good example for their fellow Romans that in changing the under lying social order at the time.
If Christianity is so pro-slavery as you seem to be implying, then why was slavery largely opposed in Europe by Christians and not enlightenment types?
Why was it people like John Newton & William Wilberforce, and not enlightnement people who turned the tide to end slavery in the west ?
While it may be true that many slave owners in the U.S. were Christians, so were most of the Absolutists who tried to end it. I never heard of any notable atheists campaigning against slavery. And wasn't the civil rights movement in the U.S. headed by religious, monotheistic people? No atheists heading the Civil Rights movement -- as far as I know.
And it was that pesky Christian medler, Abraham Linclon who served as the imspration for the 13 and 14 amendments. Imagine Christians forcing their laws upon the rest of us!
If you are so smart, why didn't you attempt to answer this guy's question yesterday:

Yes, the 13th amendment abolished slavery. You might also notice that masters were to treat their slaves fairly.
Slavery is still going on the the U.S. today. Don't fool yourself.

Paul is not teaching that slavery is moral. He is talking to the person in bondage about their attitudes: A person's status in life in no reason to disrespect others. Whether you are rich or poor we all have a duty to be mindful of others.

13th freed them, 14th gave them rights, 15th eliminated race based voting.

Alert...! Alarm...! Shock and surprise...
The god of the bible supports slavery....!
Oh... the stink of it. Oh... how wrong ... how disgustingly inhumane.
Who could subscribe to follow such a low, low standard?
