Spare us all the usual Fundy claim that it's not in 'our bible,' it's only in the Old Testament, which, of course, is not the word of God, yes? Yet, when it's convenient to Fundies, you toss OT verses smack in one's face, as "proof" about this, that, or the other nonsence. Read below: it's bloody obscene! If I were a Christian, which, thank god, I am not, the last I would do is attempt to defend this holy dance with inhumanity.

"Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children." (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

The voice they hear is their own -- giving themselves permission to act upon their worst nature and petty vindictiveness, and then calling it righteousness....

Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin - The Handwriting on The Wall

Mene - God has numbered thy kingdom and finished it.

Tekel - Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

Peres - Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians

Daniel 5:25-28

Belshazzar knew what God had done to Nebuchadnezzar his father and God told him that he knew this and yet hardened his heart. Belshazzar drank wine in the Holy vessels from the temple that his father had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon and God was angry. In that same night Belshazzar the King of the Chaldeans was slain in Babylon by Darius the Mede.
Isaiah prophesied it with God's words and that is exactly the way war was handled back then. They killed everyone including women, children and babies.

Read some books about the Revolutionary War. How bloody do you think knife fights are? Have you ever seen the movie "Braveheart." This is how they fought in Biblical times. Swords made battlefields run with blood.

Hebrews 10:30
For we know Him that has said, "Vengeance belongeth unto Me, I will recompense" saith the Lord. And again, the Lord shall judge His people.

Hebrews 10:31 "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

CONTEXT!
Isaiah is not saying, 'kill those babies, God loves it!'. It is a warning of conseqeunce. That is how people did war back then. God is saying, 'this is what these people will do' not, 'I want them to do this to you'. He allows people to make choices, even horrible ones. You sound like the type that denounces God for being too jugdmental but then cries foul at the injustices in the world, blaming God for them all.

Just like Muslims in support of their own violence inspiring Cu'ran, Christians tent to close their eyes to the attitudes taught by their holy bible. I condemn both books and their atraction ideas of god as being unworthy of ones allegiance.
