Was this just written for the sake of discouraging the masses of the day from wanting to become educated?

Surely the community leaders at the time were aware that with knowledge comes power?

Why wouldn't a creator wish for his creations to learn as much as they could?

Don't you wish for YOUR children to get as full an education as possible?

Why have the tree there if you don't want people to eat from it?

I've been unlucky enough to have had my account suspended around 6 or 7 times. Each time I've had a different name and avatar. It seems that when you have an animal or a funny pic, people will give you more respect.

Has anyone else noticed this?

First, all those looking for points save us the stupid replies, put in a letter, and get your points. Now, last night I was asleep but started to slowly wake up in stages. But I heard and felt like a small dog jumped up onto my bed. I even heard the bed squeak and felt like it was moving as if a small dog were walking on it. I just started staying in this place a few months ago and was still kind of out of it, so I thought it was one of the small dogs from my house. But then I realized that I wasn't at that house, and so I turned to see what it was but obviously nothing was there. I then turned back over and shut my eyes to go back to sleep when the bed started shaking a little, enough to where I could feel it and see the comforter wiggling. I held still to make sure it wasn't me somehow, and I realized it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't shaking bigtime or anything..just a small shake - but it was very late and nobody was up.If you have any ideas, please let me know.Worry or no?

I am a Christian who has been wrestling with this question. With faith in my heart, I constantly seek answers to questions about salvation (was I really saved?), Heaven (if I've been saved, why will I be judged?) and my lifestyle (I forget to read the Bible daily). Our small group at church only really deals with the lessons we read that week so it's hard to talk with anyone face-to-face about this.

Any real help is appreciated. I don't want sugar-coated answers either, give me the truth! :)

I go to a local store to buy stuff, and I pay the cashier & get the change. Then I put the coins & notes into my wallet and leave; this process takes just about five seconds. But this is where I felt kinda bad - usually the cashier, after handing over the receipt with change, waits for me to put everything in place and set myself before leaving. But today, this cashier gave me the change and said "can you move?" and he was waving his hands signaling me to move.

I felt bad because almost all cashiers I've met have been very patient and courteous with me, i.e. they wait for me till I get set - except this guy.

What is your opinion on this? Was the cashier being rude to me?

After all, most people don't live on farms, or herd cattle, and such. What could we have in common with such backward folks? It might be nescessary to upgrade religion, to suit the needs of an information age, and cut out any affiliation with dirt grubbers, butchers, other less evolved folks.

Does this question sound familiar? Please excuse my poor attempt at sarcasm, but I get the idea from others, that they think they are just a little better than the patriarchs of the Bible.

My children and I are going through a difficult time now and I was wondering if anyone knew of any uplifting, encouraging, positive phrases that may help us keep a good outlook on life, to get through this time. There was one I heard the other day which I really liked which was something about how "God only leads you to what he knows you can cross" or something like that, I really liked that.
