After all, most people don't live on farms, or herd cattle, and such. What could we have in common with such backward folks? It might be nescessary to upgrade religion, to suit the needs of an information age, and cut out any affiliation with dirt grubbers, butchers, other less evolved folks.
Does this question sound familiar? Please excuse my poor attempt at sarcasm, but I get the idea from others, that they think they are just a little better than the patriarchs of the Bible.

An update would be great. I was motivationally brought up by a daily diet of 'we'll sow the fields and scatter' and 'fight the good fight' I do remember harvest time outside whilst we sang, but as usual the diety sat on the wait and see fence instead of getting on with their given message. Seems they have missed the point.

Friend, no one is above anything then what God made them, You mention a bronze age deity, & people living on the farms, & backward folks, Did you know in the OT, there was major cities back then, Now I live on a small farm, If it wasn't for farmers, You would not have any food. Why should I have to upgrade my God, God is always up to date, Maybe your mind isn't. But God is. And also you try to put down us farmers, & try to make it look like you are so highly educated, How sadly is a picture of yourself you just painted, Friend you don't know anything, & since you don't, you try to bring everyone down to your level. Sorry you failed again.

The trouble is with what people often believe -- is ironically like yourself -- in thinking everyone must think like them too.
The personification of God was at first rejected by most churches. It is cognitive homogenization that leads to a propaganda controlled form of the lowest common denominator.
Freedom through wisdom comes from objectivity and perspective -- if you are threatened by The Flying Spaghetti Monster -- perhaps your own faith in your ideas is flawed.

Have you examined the teachings of Baha'u'llah? You might find them enlightening and surprisingly refreshing in this regard. In fact, the world has unknowingly adopted many of Baha'u'llah's teachings. Deity, yes, but no Bronze Age one, or do you consider the idea of deity Bronze Age to begin with? Anyway, if you have an unprejudiced mind and heart, take a look.

wow, in just a few sentences you managed to insult an entire class of honest workers. i'm sure every hard-working farmer or butcher out there would be just delighted to know you consider them "less evolved" just because their job doesn't require them to wear a suit. also remind them that you would prefer to "cut out any affiliation" to them, because apparently you're too good to associate with people who get their hands dirty at work. i'm sure your fingernails are always neatly trimmed and clean.
perhaps you would do well to consider this quote from the talmud. "no labor, however humble, is dishonoring."

The Bronze deity has been Alchemically transformed into The Fibre Optics deity called Information and technology and it will continue to evolve and grow. The God of Intellect - Information and the Goddess of Efficiency - Technology.... and all the other sub-deities as well :)
Bronze to Gold never really caught on hehehe

Cute. Somehow, I don't think we'll EVER progress beyond the deity that's responsible for molecular machines. Now THAT is fine engineering!

whilst humanity has ultimately been destroyed perchance? faith and superstition are area of human nature and could probable in no way be thoroughly replaced via reason and good judgment, and real, non-judgmental compassion for our fellow guy, for all of humanity.
