I Belong to Hindu religion and feel that all rituals hve a scientific explanation but instead of venturing into explaining it with proof it is said that as per religion one should perform such rituals e.g. offering water to Sun God. Now even scientists also agree that Surya Namaskar to the rising Sun has medicinal properties and good for health and cures many ailments. Similarly sleeping at night is more soothing than during the day ( as per ancient times there never used to be war at night or after sun set). There is no contradiction.

There is no contradiction between religion and science... there is a contradiction between religion and KNOWLEDGE. Since science is a primary SOURCE of knowledge, that causes religion to regard science as its main enemy... along with 'reason'.
In the past, christianity had the political power to simply chuck anybody who thought non-canolical thoughts (secular knowledge was heretical) into a vat of boiling oil, or burn them at the stake. After the Enlightenment, and the ensuing 'Age of Reason', when secular humanism produced the ideals of 'human rights', etc., christianity lost that political power... so the people who used to boil people in oil have evolved into the people who construct web sites like 'answersingenesis', in order to keep ACTUAL knowledge away from their constituency, keeping them in a state of perpetual bamboozlement, self-delsion and scientific ignorance.

Hinduism has no contradiction with religion. For example Shakta paath of hinduism speaks about Energy, about manifestation of energy as matter.... and vice versa. ...the reasons of being of universe and its destruction which is almost same as scientist are proving.. Quantum theory is nothing but an English translation of Shakta theory.
hinduism also talks about evolution... not exactly like darwin.. rather better explanation than Darwin. Evolution as per hinduism is evolution of mind in matter... and this evolution will end when mind merges back into the divine.
Vedic astrology had been predicting eclipses etc for 1000s of years before even the telescope was invented. Arya Bhaatta the Indian astrologer had long back found the path and speed of planets... Indian astrologers never accepted Pluto as planet... science was too late to accept it.
However I must say science will always remain below religion... because science can never prove God.. but spirituality can explain science and matter quite logically

Of course there's a contradiction. If you take it from an atheist's point of view they are almost opposites. Science relies on evidence and draws conclusions based on this evidence. In religion you just make stuff up or base it on an old book. It would be almost impossible for them to coincide.
For example: Jesus could not have performed miracles, he could not walk on water, the earth was not created in six days, there was no great flood that wiped out humanity..........

I see an easy way to have both religion and science be the explanation for things. God wrote the laws of science.

truly, technique and medical approaches got here approximately by philosophy. technology did no longer get separated from philosophy as its very own class till lots later. there is not any one non secular or philosophical theory accessible and actually some do no longer contradict, or maybe help medical theory. I comprehend that many discover conflicts between technology and faith, yet it somewhat is an opinion. Many discover that they are in a position to artwork hand in hand.

Actually science is helping us to live better in this world. But religion tells does and dont of life. Science is based upon observation and experiment. Any any case our observation and experiment both may fail. But religion cant be fail. Religion dont tell what to eat, but tell what kind of things good to eat and what kind of things bad. In general, we can say, science guide us how to earn money in every feild, and religion guide us how to spend life with others.
So the comparison of science and religion is useless. Some times ago scientists says that earth is stand still and sun is moving aroung, after some time scientists changes its stasment (as he observe) that sun is still and earth is moving. Now they are telling every thing is moving, nothing is still. Even we know that a lot of scientists put wrong things in his equations, to prove their theory. As we know they are human being and human can make error and even by his effort. So the comparison of science and religion is useless. Put every thing in his rack.
I am a muslim.

I am a Hindu from India. My religion has no conflict with science. Science deals with physics. Religion deals with metaphysics. The laws of metaphysics are the laws of science in the latter's realm of matter. Both are pursuits of truth. Truth cant be differenct.

I've never come across a contradiction. Science most of the time is not an exact science, so to speak.
For example the age of the earth has proven to be not an exact science. Yet there are some that will swear by it.
It get confusing, but I've come to the conclusion that there is only one answer.

I'm a Christian.
There is no contradiction, strictly speaking. The only thing to be considered is that the Genesis account is not literal, though I believe in a God that's powerful enough to create the entire universe in six days. I just don't think that's how it was done. But who knows? I wasn't there.
