The Watchtower article "Do you know God by name?" reads in part: "What is God's name? Humans all have personal names. Why, many people even name their pets! Would it not be reasonable for God to have a name? ...Ironically, millions who profess faith in the God of the Bible do not use his personal name."

God says at Jer. 16:21"I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know Mine hand and My might; and they shall know that My Name is [YHWH / Jehovah]."

Yet, God then says at Jer. 23:5-6: 5 “ Behold, the days are coming,” says [YHWH/Jehovah] “ That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; NOW THIS IS HIS NAME BY WHICH HE WILL BE CALLED: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS." (In Hebrew, this is "YHWH Tsidkenu.")

Where in the Yellow pages does one find a better alternative to the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?

That religion would have to follow the Bible.
Since religion requires adherents, that means that there would be people in that religion. And those people would gather.
And that alternative would have to be able to be found worldwide.

I have not found a better alternative.

I am constantly seeing people claim that "God" does things to test us..or he tests us to make us stronger well don't you think it's not so much that he is testing us but just screwing with us. I mean let's start at the beginning...he creates us, makes us perfect, gives us a great place to live...yet he puts 1 tree in a garden that he tells us not to eat from...Ummm what exactly was the point of that? Why bother creating us perfect in the first place? if he is sooooo all knowing he knew we would screw up. Secondly I am tired of hearing about how a kid born with a terminal disease is some kind of test for his parents or a rape is a test for a female! When the hell are people gonna stop making excuses and realize that instead of "God" constantly screwing with his creation, he rather doesn't exist at all and human nature and genetics are the cause of the horrible things that go on in this world.

The prevailing belief among Jehovah's Witnesses today is that the Society never predicted "the end" for 1975, but that some over-zealous members mistakenly read this into the message. However, the official prediction is well documented. See, for example, the article titled "Why Are You Looking Forward to 1975?" in The Watchtower of August 15, 1968, pp. 494-501. Allowing for a small margin of error, it concludes a lengthy discussion with this thought: "Are we to assume from this study that the battle of Armageddon will be all over by the autumn of 1975, and the long-looked-for thousand-year reign of Christ will begin by then? Possibly, but we wait to see how closely the seventh thousand-year period of man's existence coincides with the sabbathlike thousand-year reign of Christ. . . . It may involve only a difference of weeks or months, not years." (p. 499) For several other quotes pointing specifically to 1975, see the book Index of Watchtower Errors (by David A. If some alternate religious group feels as strongly about their religion as you do about yours (your religion) , then why is that each religious belief cant be respected.

Why are people so judgemental towards other ways of life?

Gays, lesbians, especially what does it matter who they love?
what do you think causes someone to become gay or a lesbian........ Why would someone say "hey world l love someone who is the same sex i am here's a reason to want to kill me and make fun of who i am purposely"?

If God made every one and he knows their divine fate, then why would God make people gay?

Nice answers to my other questions by the way...

Why do we (as people in general) have to debate the accuracy of our own beliefs if it is our freewill to believe and do whatever we want?

People keep using the word "brainwashed" to describe religious folk, Christians in particular.

I was raised in the church, and I'm still a Christian at the age of 24, although I do see this as meaning something differently than when I was 8.

So my question for you is, if you're one of those people who always call Christians "brainwashed," "lemmings," or just outright "unintelligent," will you say it now to my face (or to my avatar at least) not knowing anything else about me except my religious beliefs?

If I were to come on TV tommorow and say this would Christians be offended.

You can't prove I'm not and whenever anyone asked me to show I am Jesus I'd give them a face full of "Don't tempt me(cos I'm God and all that) Beyatch"

I included a link to a scientific paper in a previous post about Gentry's work on Polonium Halos.

http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=AkZkDkVlj.KvmxUSK__oeb0FEBV.?link=ask&menu=396545163

One answer chose an exert listing Gentry's premises and saying that it was obviously beyond my understanding.

What he failed to mention, is that reading the rest of the paper helps give a better understanding of the premises.

He also failed to recognise, that as well as including the above link, I also included a more straight forward explanation as per:
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/po-halos/

I don't claim to be a geologist, but I have read several articles about polonium halos to gain a better understanding of what the young Earth creationists are claiming.

Do these guys have a problem with people in general learning about topics they're discussing or something?

Are they still hung up on the "tree of knowledge" issue?
