We did not "have" to change in front of everyone. If you are just changing go in a bathroom stall. If you have to shower, get in the shower stall (ours had curtains) and just change in there before you turn the water on.
You will really get used to it though. And it is something you will not just have to deal with in HS. At summer camps and if you go to college you will have roommates and shared bathrooms ect. So if I were you I would just go ahead and get used to it now- everyone else is probably just a nervous about it as you.

had to in jr high and high school... not sure about now.... if they still do it , it is inevitable unless its that time of the month... sorry we all have to go through it... ill admit i was always really embarassed i was always one of the bigger girls in the class and always a really modest personat least that i know if... most of the girls felt the same ... embarassment... even those who had the skinny bodies.... everyone was so focused on hiding themselves theres no time to gawk at anyone else... but no one ever looked and we didnt have curtains... all we had was a big room with a bunch of shower heads and couldnt get the towel until after we showered off.. ... you'll be fine... i promise!

Back when I was in high school, the showers had partitions and non-see-through curtains or doors, so it was no big deal. Sometimes we would see each other in undies, but that was about it. I do remember one student who was very self-conscious due to her weight, but she had more of a problem with it than the others did. I can't tell you what it's like nowadays, though.

You do have to change in front of your classmates, but you can use a bathroom stall if you'd like. For showering, you only do that unless you've been swimming in your hs pool and even then you're wearing your bathing suit..so it's ok. :-)

Yes. It's no big deal. it's not like the other girls like doing this either. You just shower, cover up with a towel and get dressed, you can keep your towel on while you re dress and after you get your under garments on discard your towel. it might seem awkward at first but it really is no big deal.

I never had to do this in high school and I most definitely would not have done it even if I had to. I don't think they can make you do it... You can just opt out and change your clothes instead of taking a shower....I never got that sweaty or dirty during gym class that it couldn't wait until I got home

When I was in high school and middle school, I found changing together became a non-issue. We were not naked, and the sight of each other in our underwear got old, fast.

We were not required to shower and I didn't. I am not the naked type and if there had been an issue made of it I would have refused to do it.

okay, sorry about the girls only, but it's not a big deal. actually i wasn't too sure about the idea before i started high school. but youll get used to it quickly. if it is a HUGE deal to you though, then you may be able to talk to your P.E. teacher, or w/e class this is for, and tell her that you would really prefer to take a shower on your own, but i would just try it once. most ppl are prolly nervous about it their first time, but if you think about it, you're all girls...., you'll get used to it! :) Good luck!

Well, here in our country (Philippines) it's awkward for us to stare at each other naked, (d'oh) but to for girls to change in a big room with no one looking at each other is perfectly fine for us (it's not as if we had different genitals or something). Just change in a cubicle if you're shy. But if you can muster up the courage, you can go and try, just don't openly stare at people; they'd feel insecure.
