Where in the Yellow pages does one find a better alternative to the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?

That religion would have to follow the Bible.
Since religion requires adherents, that means that there would be people in that religion. And those people would gather.
And that alternative would have to be able to be found worldwide.

I have not found a better alternative.

No one has touched on the question.

Atheism provides no hope other than being worm food. People have written about the Watchtower but that is not about JWs and not in the yellow Pages.

Methodism is not a Biblical name.

You could do a lot better than Jehovah's Witness but you will never look because then you would have to question your belief system and face court martial from the brothers and lose all your friends and family. I see your point. Not worth it. Especially when you would have to face the fact that nearly every other Christian church has many similar views as you have.

Whatever makes you happy. Now get your foot out of my door and stop trying to shove the watchtower down my throat while pretending to be my friend. Let God do the judging! You'd be suprised how many other christian faiths follow your criteria. Your answer shows just how isolated you are. You'd never be able to see other points of view unless you left the organization for a year and kept your mind open. That's right. You can't risk that. Too dangerous. Get back in your cage where it's safe.

Well, if you've already found your better alternative, I'm not sure why you're even asking the question. And you forgot to put the Watchtower link in there, heh heh.

Anyway, I'll be foolish and answer it. I've found the Presbyterian faith to hold the Calvinist thought that I agree with, and, like yours and every other Christian religion -- or religion that calls themselves Christian -- it believes that it follows the Bible, and I've seen arguments that I just cannot refute, and I do look for them. There are only a few things that I cannot answer, but that doesn't mean that it's false. One is supra lapsarianism vs. infralapsarianism, did God make Adam weak so that he would sin in order that his will would be carried out, or did God react to Adam's own initiative? I lean toward supra lapsarianism because it fits most closely with the verses and predestination and God's prerogative in ordaining history, but there are convincing arguments for the other one.

Another issue is slavery, and Rousseau's "The Social Contract" that if Christians are really focusing on the world to come, then they should make lousy soldiers and great slaves. Of course this is not true, except that you fit the first one and may be submissive in the sense of your obedience to the law in society today.

On to the next of your "requirements," which are in quotation marks because yours are not what I believe to be the marks of the true church as identified in the Belgiic Confession. But it's your question and I'll answer that one with one of the headings from that document, which is Article 28, "Everyone Is Bound to Join Himself to the True Church." So if nothing else, we agree on the importance of "submitting... to the doctrine and discipline thereof."

The last one, I guess could be filled easily enough with the religious programming that's available today via satellite broadcasts, shortwave, the Internet, missionaries, and general evangelism that marks our faith. You would probably thumb your nose at this, and I understand where you're coming from, but your "have to" must come from a heartfelt "want to" rather than just trying to earn your salvation through those works. Calvinism is pure joy with works following as a result of the Holy Spirit working in our hearts, not pure works with joy following as a result of commandments working in our heads. even Calvinists can mix that up, and we do need to "guard our hearts" as it says in Proverbs.

But there is your alternative, for what it's worth.

i think of maximum are in basic terms no longer taught the scripture and are unable to help their ideals. sure, many could insinuate gruesome issues approximately us using their homestead existence or possibly listening to their preachers, or possibly a psychological well being undertaking as you suggested. yet there is the underhanded ones, besides. and that they generally do no longer use God's observe to help their statements...i in my view do no longer % to choose as to why the could be doing that, using fact scripture is often terrific to respond to with. Matthew 24:9"...and you'd be products of hatred by ability of all the international locations using my call. 10 Then, additionally, many would be stumbled and could betray one yet another and could hate one yet another. 11 and fairly some fake prophets gets up and misinform many; 12 and due to the expanding of lawlessness the affection of the greater effective variety will cool off. 13 yet he that has continued to the top is the single which would be saved. 14 And this stable information of the dominion would be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the international locations; and then the top will come."

First, if you think a search for God should begin in the Yellow Pages, I am very concerned for you.

Secondly, you are parroting what the Watchtower has put in your head. "If you leave us, where will you go?" They want you to believe that there is nothing better out there, but if you don't venture out there, how will you know?

Finally, by asking us to show you a better religion, you would merely be trading in the Watchtower's set of beliefs for someone else's. You don't need anyone to tell you what to believe. If you truly want to find God, put down the Yellow Pages, and open your mind and your heart.

Peace to you.

Atheism is a better alternative to ANY religion for obvious reasons.

Your conditions are flawed in that they specify an Abrahamic religion. There are litterally BILLIONS of people who follow other religions that you are excluding from this question.

Just because you have not found one that is better than JW does not mean one does not exist. The probablility that a better choice actually does is exist is very high. I base this conclusion on statistics.

Given that there are 19 major world religions which are subdivided into a total of 270 large religious groups, and many smaller ones. 34,000 separate Christian groups have been identified in the world. The probability that you have hit on the "right" one is rather small don't you think?

The witnesses do not adhere to Babylonian dead works and pagan holidays and traditions as Christendom does.

They don't cry for peace, yet send their sons to war.

They have a Bible mostly based on the work of the most expert Greek scholars. Westcott and Hort.

Every belief they have can be backed up with good references, secular history along with scriptural background.

If the witnesses do not have the truth, no one does.
There is no alternative.

The Word of God, The Holy Scriptures
Do tell us that there is Only One True Faith.
And that few will find it, broad and spacious is the road to destruction.
Some ppl will find the truth, Not the masses.

I am quite amused by Father K's dismissal of Arius just because he was condemned by the Catholic Church. Because we know the Catholic Church was ALWAYS correct about heretics, just ask Galileo! lol
