Everyone knows the story about the Jack and the beanstalk, where Jack exchanges their cow for some "strange looking beans", which his mother throws out the window. On the next morning they have grown to the sky, Jack climbs and visits an ogre's house, from where he steals magical items, and lives happily. But why beans( not a particular type of beans or peas, just beans). Why not some other plant which grows vines, like pumpkin, grape, cucumber, or a big tree which is far more stabel looking than vines? What the usage of beans as a bridge, connecting the earth and another dimenstion( not heaven!) would mean here?

It would appear the Gods have turned against me; I've gotten 3 violation notices today, as well as the 4 from yesterday. Is there any way to propitiate the Gods, or have they decreed Jack is gone?

Atheists, would you have a bit more respect for Christianity if it said that God and Mary had actual sex? I feel like the whole virgin birth thing casts women as contemptible, asexual incubation devices.

Christians say that laws like stoning your disobedient child and all the rules about food no longer apply because of the new covenant from Jesus.

As far as I know modern Jews do not follow those laws to the letter anymore either. Did they receive a different, new covenant or go through a reform like Catholicism?

There are no contradictions in the bible.

The bible has been proven through fulfilled prophesy.

Darwin recanted on his deathbed.

Evolution has been proven false (is only a theory).

Atheists have no morals.

This United States is a country founded on Christianity.

There are no atheists in foxholes.

Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of people have earned, He thus lets them taste the consequences of their works that they may return.

If I walked out in front of several cars as they were turning in different directions on the feeder road of the freeway? How many cars would hit each other if I did this during rush hour? I know the ones that tried to stop and ended up hitting me would end up getting hit by the cars behind them, but how many? I have had a rotten week, and want to make a difference in people's lives so they will remember me. I also had a rude customer yesterday who reported me to my boss who got onto me (he got mad because I made him wait to order something (I had 2 customers in front of him, although they weren't standing there at the time, they were brousing the store while I sent some faxes for them and did some other job for another) I want to make an impact in his life too, thought maybe I would have his name and phone number in my pocket to make the situation a little more interesting. I need some more ideas, can anyone help? Serious only please. Thanks

Why do some people think this?

Over and over I hear christians say that we will always sin, that we cannot avoid it, that it is in our nature, etc.

Yet I also keep hearing that we have free will, that we can make a choice, that we are responsible for the choices we make.

If the latter were true, I could choose to never sin again.

But if the former is true, then sin is -so- tempting as to over-rule free will.

In other words, there is no free-will, we are compelled to sin as we are incapable of ever stopping it.

So which is it"

Can we be perfect and freely choose to never sin?

Or are we programmed to sin and even our free will is incapable of ever stopping it?

I think i got an answer to the whole "Can God create something so big He can't pick it up?"

where if He can't create or pick it up then He's not perfect?

I'm also assuming we are talking about the Catholic God as well.

In which case when Jesus was on Earth He was subject to human limitation but was still considered the physical manifestation of 'God' and He could barely lift up His cross, we will use His own cross in the case as the object in this question.

However, once Heaven is established and Christ is sitting on the throne as God, He will have no boundaries so lifting up the cross prolly won't be an issue... let alone a mountain... He'll prolly be able to spin a world on His pinky if He wanted.

And if the 'riddle' means at THE SAME TIME... then it's possibly the dumbest thing i've ever heard and if that's the best you got to disprove God then, seriously... good luck.

Also, i wanna add, if God can pick up anything... there's no complaints, really. i wish i could

I work the night shift and get home at about 7:30 to 8 am
I pass by this lake on my way home in the morning and there is this big tree ! on this tree is a bald eagle nest!
we have been watching this couple for years raise their chicks! but lately I have come to realize that when I am sad or work was tough for what ever reasons(hospital) , the darker of the two is sitting up there and watches me ! then I get the feeling that all is well and sure enough it is all good!

how ever, if I do not see him up there I get a strange feeling about some things and stuff does go wrong!

any thoughts???????

Mormons are very defensive of the secret rituals that go on in the Temple. They say its sacred when in fact its secret. They know they could no longer use Jesus Christ in their logo to appear Christian and lure unsuspecting people in if everyone knew what really went on. Go to any Christian church in the world. There's not a single thing that goes on inside that isn't open to anyone. There are no secrets. So if Mormon rituals are so Holy and sacred, then they should be available for anyone to recieve.

Creationists claim that evolution is a religion and it is therefore unconstitutional to teach it. However, the majority of people don't believe evoltion is a religion and want evolution taught in schools. This is how I know my statement is true. The board of education decides what should be taught in school and what should not be taught. every state has their own local board of education. Well, the governor of the state decides who should be the leader of the local board of education and the people vote for governors. If people did not want evolution, they would not vote for governors who want evolution taught in schools. So yes, the majority have spoken. Sorry the majority do not agree with your views creationists.

sometimes the holy spirit will be so powerful and just overtake me...kind of like, i will be doing something and i will become so enthralled with it that i forget about myself and time and everything else. sometimes when i write, and go back to look at what i've written, i will think "wow, i don't even remember doing that!" that is just one example. it is the coolest feeling and really makes me feel closer to God, like i am really fulfilling his purpose for me.
