The New Testament clearly says to reject other belief systems (not in exact words of course). Christians are to shun false teachings.
So why do people claim Christians are supposed to be tolerant? Any scripture to quote?

I put in my letter of resignation in at my job as a box office manager and a local theatre. Right now we are in an 8 week run of a show that i am also performing in. I said my last day would be the last day of the show, thinking i was doing them a favor but all they did was say ok, thanks. Now im hearing alot of news thats making up some shady stuff and I really just wanna get out of here. I know etiquette is two weeks, is it right to change my last day and how would i do it?

Shouldnt the Romans be viewed as the most intolerant empire since they threw people to the lions for fun because people had a different god? This is even worse than the witch burnings.

Atheism-Its rapidly trying to disprove all religions using science and many christians have been lost to scientific THEORY not fact THEORY.

Im not a rascist but Id be a liar if I pretended that other religions weren't a threat to christianity there are so many religions now that many dont know what to believe in this either drives them towards atheism or makes them stick wth their own religion without checking out others.

The Levitical codes tell us no.
In addition to not eating certaini meats.
Not wearing a cloth of more than one fiber.
The fundamentalists will say, these rules no longer apply because that was the customs/traditions of the day....
personal hygeine was not up to par, blah, blah, blah.

But, why don't they explain away the verses relating to homosexuality?

Did Biblical people know of homosexual relationships as we have today?

No...homosexuals of the day were temple prostitutes.
It was important to have big families for wealth and protection...so, obviously homosexuality was frowned upon...

So, isn't homosexuality as it appears in the Bible..more for historical reference and tells us something about their age...more than a literal instruction for us today?

How do you decide which codes to follow and which to not?

Should women not come to church during that time of the month?

I see the name everywhere, but I've never known exactly who is being honored--is it the Virgin Mary? Is it Mary, mother of John (who is the only "St. Mary" without an additional part to her name, such as "Magdalene" or "Bartholomea of Florcence," mentioned on www.catholic.org)?

It would seem strange that it is used to refer to Mary, the Mother of God, (I mean, we don't ever say "St. Jesus") but are there really 3.7 million Google hits for "St. Mary" and 1.2 million more for "Saint Mary" if the name refers to the apostle John's mother?

Thanks.

I was married last Friday. A very high class ceremony with all the trimmings. Anyway, a long story short:

We did all the normal stuff - speeches, dinner, 1st dance…. However, I will admit, I did rush through greeting / thanking all the guests so I could grab the 'gift box' filled with all the money envelopes.

I finished the last table & told my wife I had to use the men's room - instead a took the box to our room and counted all the money. It was eating me alive to see how much these people gave. No family of 4 at my wedding is giving $35 and getting away with it!!

About 90 minutes later my wife and some other concerned guests found me in the hotel room. I explained what I was doing but they were very angry. They even SWORE at me!!!

I really was not gone that long & don't think it is that big of a deal. I wanted to make sure we made a profit on the wedding.

She is still fuming mad - states she was embarrassed. What is wrong so wrong with what I did?

Romans 8

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Just wanted to share that we have an indescribable love in God.

It is not me in deed, but a priest at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral says she is also a Muslim. Doesn't it mean that it is one religion in deed as all the Abrahamic religions come from the same source? What do you think?

Assuming there is a God, and we were created by him/her, the creation seems incomplete or untruthful to the creator’s talents, as we think he/she to have.

I must subject myself to the understanding of a creator artist, sculptor, etc. What I mean is this, we believe that Gods is perfect, as such would want to showcase his "talent" in his creation.

In the Bible we were created in the image of God, similar to a artist or sculptors greatest work, where they would try to remove any flaw they see in themselves, or in the case of grotesque drawings add them.

Since gods whole creation is not only a image, but soul, and mind, I must ask weather or not he added his flaws, or removed them, thus making us more perfect then "he", or are we incomplete, in which any flaws the creation has is the result of incompletion. Thus the lives we live are apart of the creation, and Prophets are the tools use in the process, to remove flaws.

I.E. Be Perfect as the father in heaven- Jesus

Is it just the religious Christian women here that are so frightened by sexuality? I have never seen a culture (outside of Islam) that looks down on women so much. I know, I know, just like Muslims you will say you RESPECT women, that's why you keep them covered up, protected and "pure," but we all know the truth.

What is the True purpose of Desire?

Should we be Open to Desire?
Or, should we Conquor Desire?

"Chassez le naturel, il revient au galop."
(Means: Chase away the natural, and it comes back at a gallop.)

As Desire is Natural, should we be chasing it away? Or, should we awaken to it's true potential?
