What do you think of the attitudes towards subjugated nations in this book? They appear somewhat patronising to me, but certainly not as insulting as references to Jewish people in early English literature [e.g. Chaucer and Marlowe]
which do you think is generally more offensive: colonial literature or medieval literature? and why?

My Grandma belongs to the Episcopal Church. I am not against homosexuality outright – free county 'n all. How can we have an outwardly spoken homosexual Bishop leading spiritual leaders, while in the bible they teach from specifically speaks against homosexuality in the Book of Leviticus (“If a man lies with a man as a man lies with a woman, he hath committed an abomination and shall surely be put to death” – specifically.)?

Hi! =) I'm a choir member looking for the background stories of two songs, eg. why, when and in what context they were written. The two songs are "All Things Bright and Beautiful" by John Rutter, and One Way by Hillsong United. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me more about these songs (aside from the names of their writers). Stories behind the songs would be really helpful =). Thanks for your time!!! =P

having a common ancestor with apes?
When people say " if you're okay with descending from a monkey, then believe in evolution", I don't see what's so weird or unbelievable about it? I mean, you're human now so what's the problem?
We share 98% of our DNA with them, and we can vaguely see some physical and behavioral similarities...
It really is harder for you to think we might have a common ancestor ( NOTE: WE DON'T COME FROM APES, WE SHARE A COMMON ANCESTOR) than it is to think that a man sprung up from dust and got his rib taken out to make a woman????

Take a look at society-the world`s greatest scientists, musicians, artists, philosophers, and notorious leaders have all been men.
The artisits: Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh...
The scientists and philosophers: Einstein, Homer, Socrates...
Leaders/politicians: Hitler, Stalin, Egypt`s pharaohs, every president of the US..
The world has always been dominated by men and men have always made the most significant accomplishments. Sure, there have been women like Marie Curie and you could probably name a lot others, but the most famous names that stick out are always of males.
What is it about men that makes them so overriding? It`s a scientific fact that the average woman has more intelligence than three average men put together.

Is testosterone a factor? Is it some biological characteristic that all men have, such as the way a man`s brain is wired? I know that testosterone is connected with a better understanding of math and science, but still.
Why men ???

I mean really. Sure this sounds stupid but if what people say is true that people are born to be homosexuals, then why can't doctors detect this at birth? As far as I know there isn't a person born to be labled as homosexual on their first day. Is this not so? Does anybody actually know of a case where a woman had a baby and the doctor said "congradulations on your new baby homosexual?".

How do your religious and/or spiritual beliefs define you? Do they define your personailty, your actions, your likes, your dislikes?

Do your beliefs determine who you spend time with, who you date, who you marry, and who you are friends with? In what way?

Sometimes we allow how we feel about certain things such as religion and spirituality define us. Sometimes we allow other people to define us based on the same thing(s). My question is do you let it define you?
