A couple weeks ago, somebody asked atheists for the basis of their morality. Most said it was the Golden Rule. Most Christians base their morality on the Golden Rule. Most other religions base their morality on some variation of the Golden Rule. So if we agree on that, do our other differences matter?

Explanation please?
So, at 3am this morning, the small little TV in the corner of my basement (I use it when I go on the tredmill) randomly turned on. There was no evidence of a power surge because nothing else in the house turned on or was flashing ( like, the clock parts). My mom went downstairs wondering where the noise was coming from, saw it on with the volume way up (I never have the volume on, I put the subtitles on. Whenever I turn it on it automatically goes that way). And she couldnt turn it off with the remote! Any explanations? I don't want a haunted house!

I am, as I type this, in the Library of Congress (waiting for a book, it takes forever for them to retrieve them). I sat down at a computer, just happened to be in the Reference section. To my left right and back (and beyond) are literally thousands of texts of and about the bible. All of them are different, saying different things about your God, many contradict the other. To my immediate right is the Concodance to the Septuagint, by Hatch and Redpath. Do you know what the Septuagint is? I'll save you the answer, it's a Greek biblical text that says a lot of different things than the Latin Text. My question is this, now that I've seen the literally thousands of different texts in and about the Bible, have those who believe it to be true actually considered that for centuries people have disagreed over what is and is not in it or what wording to use? There are so many differences, did you actually think of that before calling it inerrant?

sorry, but I had to clump words together in order to fit the question into the 110 character limit of the question-box.

Thank you for a lot of the wonderful suggestions about welcoming our newest friend to our church!

He really stands out in our congregation, and is an awesome addition to our "family".

My daughter was working on a Sunday School project with her friend Megan (Mee-gun, not May-gun) and they decided to draw a painting of Jesus and a flock of sheep.

To send a message of welcoming to our newest friend, my daughter decided to color one of the sheep black.

I want to give our newest good friend this painting, but my nag of a wife keeps telling me it might be offensive. I haven't even looked in her direction today, as I am upset that she is putting negative thoughts into my brilliant daughters mind.

What is the opinion of you people on this matter? I'm correct, correct?

Think about this example: If a man has an arm removed and then procreates, his offspring would not all be one armed because of his amputation. The removal of his arm does not change his genetic make-up.

The same applies to the removal of Adam's rib.

So Christians, do you agree?

Don't intolerant people know that the more intolerant the society is of gays, the more likely gays will continue to be among them? (supposing it's true that homosexuality is at least PARTLY due to genes)

i don't think it would make the bible illegitimate if he had. After all, it's not a sin to fall in love! I don't think it would have had a negative impact on his ministry.

sorry, i know this question has probably been asked before.

That we are gods creation and have a purpose in our life??? People get thrown off from christianity because of so many people who claim to be christian but really break it down in their own way, which can be wrong. Like those who kill in the name of God or whatever. People need to give God a chance. Find their own answers. Don;t look to the earth for the answers, because the earth is bound to fail. Realize that we can't control everything, therefore we need a God in our life. It sadens me to see so many people live without the love i have now from God in my life.

As normal decent human beings, I think we can all agree that we want to live in a good, decent non-violent loving world, that is what GOD had intended from the start, HOWEVER Satan was hurled out of a perfect heaven into earth and has been tempting man with evil doings since that time, and we as human beings have no way to stop it only JESUS can.
If Man could of destroyed evil, wouldn't he have done it by now???
We cannot destroy evil in Men's hearts, we cannot control the climate to make it better, we cannot control GOD's plan for humanity, we cannot stop what is destined to happen, we can make life better while were here but we are all destined to die no way to stop it, so why are so many people afraid that a christians WILL is for the world to end? when it's is evil we want to end, don't Atheists want Evil and Pain to end, so we can live in a loving perfect world, where there is no more death, pain and suffering?
I write alot about the End Times because we are in them...

Accord to 1 Samuel 15:3, these were God's orders, "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."

Is this historical? Does it accurately quote the god of the Bible's orders to the Hebrew army?

(I'm not asking if you believe it applies today, I'm asking if you believe it happened.)

I am going to visit a friend and her husband for five days, and I would like to take them a nice host and hostess gift. Does anyone have any good ideas? Neither of them drink so a bottle of wine or something similar would not be a good choice for them.
