Interesting - I do not know of one single human in existence that thinks with their heart. Thats pretty much reserved for the brain processes....

Not ten, but only eight.
Not in the heart, but in the brain!
To live in company with other human beings, the have to accept, that they need as much freedom as you want.
There is a compromise between freedom and duties, call it reason or call it the ten commandments (two for God to be sure that the rest of them is respected!

You have made a common mistake.
There are three things mentioned in this regard, and they are the same.
God puts a new heart in the Christian to replace the heart of stone.
God places His Spirit in the Christian
God places His Law in the Christian.
They are all the same thing. The Spirit of God leads the Christian, and not a written code.
Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

And is everything that is bad written in the kidneys. I don't think thoughts are in the heart and i don't think anything is written there except for the brand names on pace makers and stints. I don't know why this question is even asked in the present century I could understand it if it was written in the middle 1700's but not after that.

Most people can understand the Commandments on an intellectual level (the head), but unless it's part of a person's moral and spiritual fiber (the heart), it won't do much good.
Understanding something, and putting that something into practice, are two different things.

It is up to man whether or not he will accept them by God or reject them by his choice or with the influence of Satan.
I agree with the one reply; regardless of your faith, they are a code of conduct/ethics.
Personally, I choose to live by them. We had one in the house that was called The Teen Commandments, a variation of the Ten Commandments.
Have a nice day.

I wish what u says becomes true one. That would bring peace to the world.
But the way now is filled with more fools than the wise. Fools are lovers of Words not Lovers of God. With thier foolishness instead of spreading Love of God, they are spreading Egoist hatred which has torn the world into pieces.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard today.
What about people who worship other gods or no gods? Perhaps the first 4 commandments aren't written on their hearts.

A wonderful "Truth".....congratulations on the "Wisdom"!
Everything concerning God is written within the heart of man.
Opening the heart allows man to see the truth in all things.
The soul of man is in the heart, not in the mind.
It is the mind of man that recognizes what the heart reveals as truth!
Again congratulations.............
