I mean really. Sure this sounds stupid but if what people say is true that people are born to be homosexuals, then why can't doctors detect this at birth? As far as I know there isn't a person born to be labled as homosexual on their first day. Is this not so? Does anybody actually know of a case where a woman had a baby and the doctor said "congradulations on your new baby homosexual?".

You people that say people are born gay contradict yourselves and don't even realize it. Like saying you realize your true self by adapting to the world around you. Like I said "you are a product of your environment."

Our finite minds cannot even attempt to comprehend an infinite universe. People should stop placing their "faith" in science. How arrogant can a person be to assume that little ol' humans can explain away a universe? Homosexuality is what it is.....SEXUALLY DEVIANT BEHAVIOR. It falls into the same class as PEDOPHILES and BEASTALITY. It's interesting to me that these "scientists" and "doctors" claim that homosexuality is genetic but pedophiles can be rehabilitated. Interesting.

Modern medicine has been able to detect some gender cues at birth through anatomy and hormone levels. Eventually they will get better at this and be able to tell parents that because of their anatomy and hormones they may have homosexual urges later on. Just as it is useful to inform new parents of baby's conditions to prepare for the future, this would be useful as well. When it happens it will bring with it alot more tolerance and understanding (we hope).

Babies don't have sexual feelings, and even if they did, it isn't possible to measure them or determine whether they're heterosexual or homosexual.
As a couple of answerers have pointed out, it isn't possible to tell whether a baby is left- or right-handed either; do you believe that's not inborn?

And if you insist that homosexuality is 'environmental' or 'learned'; why isn't my brother gay, or my sisters? We all grew up in the same environment...only I, and one sister, are gay.
Shouldn't we ALL be gay, or ALL straight?

('Bheal'; I have to correct your first point; we can determine a baby's *sex* at birth, but not it's *gender*. They're not always the same thing)

I take it you have never had children or even been around a baby. With the exception of their external genitalia, you really can't tell a boy from a girl.

I have known several gay men since they were small children, less than five years old. They were gay then and they are gay now. Do you even know anyone who is gay, actually talked with them. I very much doubt it.

How is it that gay people threaten you so. Did you have homoerotic thoughts as a child and repressed them and made yourself straight.

There are three things you can tell from a child when it is born.

1, Gender
2, Whether or not it is alive
3, Whether or not there are enough limbs and extremities.

Anything else you find out later.

So.... has anyone out there had their child handed to them with the doctor saying Congratulations, it's a left handed child? How about Concratulations, it's a footballer? Or even Congratulations, it's a republican?

Nobody even feels attracted to other people until around 13 or14 (when they hit puberty). Sure, I mean little kids have girlfriends and boyfriends but that doesn't mean anything. There is no way to tell if a baby will be a gay or not. If you feel like developing a test THAT ACTUALLY WORKS (I mean, you'll have to track these people for YEARS!!) then be my guest, you'll be a rich man.

Just the same way that a doctor can't figure it out at birth if it is going to be left handed or right handed. I don't agree with the being born gay theory either but this is not the right question.

Not what i would have said but I did enjoy it. You going to get a lot of people against this. Baby start forming there personality since the moment they out of the womb. Gender roles are taught by parents. Now just as Any other person each of the Homosexual people have a choose not to act upon this. God did say in His Word that if you resist the Devil he will flee from you. These people just choose not to listen to God's will. Love in Jesus Christ. Blessings

I'm sorry you're so ignorant! But you can't look at something and say because someone has buckteeth they're a hick!!!! You can't judge something and completely figure out how something is going to be. You can't look at a baby girl and say "She'll have breast cancer" or a boy "He'll have prostate cancer". That is just not how it works!!!! Think before you speak!

Homosexuality and Heterosexuality refer to who a person is sexually attracted to: same sex or opposite sex. Obviously, this cannot be determined (yet) at birth. People may say they were "born that way" because their attraction to the same sex (or opposite sex, in the case of heterosexuals) goes back as far as they can remember and they have NO MEMORIES of attraction to the opposite sex (in the case of gays) or no memories of attraction to the same sex in the case of heterosexuals.
