My Grandma belongs to the Episcopal Church. I am not against homosexuality outright – free county 'n all. How can we have an outwardly spoken homosexual Bishop leading spiritual leaders, while in the bible they teach from specifically speaks against homosexuality in the Book of Leviticus (“If a man lies with a man as a man lies with a woman, he hath committed an abomination and shall surely be put to death” – specifically.)?

He’s not catholic. Episcopal leaders don’t have to remain celibate.

Are you referring to Leviticus 18:22?

If so, I suspect that the Bishop knows his Bible better than you do.
That verse reads "V’et zachar lo tishkav mishk’vey eeshah toeyvah hee." in the original Hebrew; the literal translation is "And with a male thou shalt not lie down in the bed of a woman; it is an abomination". (- Not quite the translation you've been fed, is it?)
It doesn't condemn homosexuality (in fact, nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality *in itself* condemned); it condemns the defiling of a woman's bed.
It was, at the time, considered a sin for anyone other than a wife to have sex in that wife's bed, no matter who with. And it doesn't actually mention putting anyone to death...

The Bible has quite a few prohibitions, most of which are geared toward heterosexuals but they flout them openly and have had for centuries. The Bible proscribes death for any number of things that we in modern society would consider barbaric. Does that mean you also believe in putting people to death for loving someone other than someone that you think they should? The Episcopal Church is the American version of the Church of England and its liturgy is almost identical to Catholicism. The early Church, which is the church of Rome, permitted all manner of debauchery from its hierarchy. This thing about priests not being able to marry or not being able to have a boyfriend is a modern phenomena. Perhaps you had better better educate yourself before drawing specious conclusions based upon inaccurate data.

Where have you been? Gene Robinson been the Bishop of the New Hampshire Diocese for Three Years!

He lives with his partner, and when New Hampshire's civil union law goes into effect in January, he plans to enter into a legal civil union (marriage in everything but name within the borders of New Hampshire). And the church will celebrate with him.

The Episcopal Church has accepted homosexuals into membership & priesthood for decades. What supposedly is it about the episcopacy that makes it the "no-homo-zone"?

Just because your version of Christianity points to the statements about homosexuality and declares that there's in inevitable schism between gay people and the church does not mean that all interpretations of the Bible require gay people to live outside the church doors. The Episcopal Church, the United Church of Christ, the Unitarian Universalist Association and the Metropolitan Community Church all accept gay clergy and officers, as well as members.

To be honest i question the bible, i believe that God is existent, but the bible is written by men who claim God told them what to write, any high member of the religious society could have done so then.

christianity is about belief, and having faith in the lord. its not about following every single little word of the bible.
if we did that, then we would have to eliminate eating shell fish and wearing clothes with 2 different kinds of thread in them.
no one is perfect-and the church knows that.which is why he gets to be a spiritual leader.

Oh, put down the Bible and open your mind and heart to loving all of God's children. Why is it that everyone must be so judgmental? Perhaps you've read the Bible verse that says "Judge not lest ye be judged" .

some would say that this refers to cultic practices of the neighbouring polytheists, e.g. canaanites. the word abomination is arguably more associated with ritual than with outright morality.
