...songs by Edith Piai - anyone heard of her? There is a movie on her - La En Vie Rose currently. Some of her greatest hits were written by herself. Her life story from a blurb on the movie - " From the slums of Paris to the limelight of New York, Edith Piaf’s life was a battle to sing and survive, live and love. Raised in poverty, Edith’s magical voice and her passionate romances and friendships with the greatest names of the period - Yves Montand, Jean Cocteau, Charles Aznavour, Marlene Dietrich, Marcel Cerdan and others - made her a star all around the world. But in her audacious attempt to tame her tragic destiny, the Little Sparrow - her nickname - flew so high she could not fail to burn her wings."

You can listen to some snippets of her song at this link -

Songs and music stay with us, don't they? They are so evocative - a time of one's life gone by, a peephole into one's memories come alive again......................

Christians claim this verse proves Jesus was God.
One day to prove a point, Jesus picked up a child and said to his disciples; "Whoever receives this child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives Him who sent me;"LK 9:48
This specific act of Christ Jesus and/or his explicit statement concerning this Child does not make; the Child and the Christ, co-equal or one in status.
The next question would be did Jesus admit he too was sent by God just as he was sending the Child?
Jesus said: "...and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak these things as the Father instructed me." JN 8:28
Jesus said: "...I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about what to say and what to speak." JN 12:49
Jesus said; "Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master; neither one who is sent greater than the one who sent him." JN 13:16

Its clear that Jesus is NOT God right?

For those of you who are very devout and claim that God/ Jesus has put forth the directive that you are here to spread his word to the world, and considering the USA has a large Christian population, what is stopping you from spreading the Word of God to the Middle East?

If you claim he has sent you here to spread his Gospel, then why not do it where Christianity is at its weakest?

Are you afraid of heaven? If you die spreading his word, are you not made a martyr? Are you not brought into heaven?

I guess what I am asking, is, it is nice and safe in the West to prostletyze your dogma, but why not bring it to the unbelievers? Why not bring Jesus to those who are truly damned? Dying for your faith as they die for theirs? Is your devotion not on par with the Muslims of the Al Quaida?

Are Al Quaida Muslims more faithful, and therefore more true than you?

Jesus said: "The Father and I are one." (JN 10:30)
In Greek, the language of the John's Gospel, the word 'heis' (masc.) means; 'Numerical one' and 'hen' (neut.); means
'Unity - in purpose'. In this verse apostle John has used 'hen' (Strong's #1520). Hence, the apostle was speaking of the "Unity in purpose". Those who may not be familiar with the Greek language or cannot have the access to the world famous concordance by James Strong may please look up the marginal notes in New American Standard Bible (NASB), to find out the specific meaning of this word with reference to this verse.
After having done that Jesus declared:
"And the glory which Thou hast given me, I have given to them (disciples); that they may be one, just as we are one."(JN 17:22)
Jesus also said: "Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one."(JN 17:11)

My wife's ex husband refuses to pay child support. He owes $5000 in back child support and refuses to look for work. He sleeps late and plays video games most parts of the day. I am the one who is working and taking care of the children. We have to send food to his house to make sure the kids eat when they are at his house. Doesn't it say in the BIble that if you want to eat, you have to work?

the word 'pais' in greek is used to refer to jesus christ in the bible

this word is translated as 'son' while it also has a second meaning: 'slave'

so why would bible translators use only one meaning and not the other?

I have a friend of mine who has been accussed of being gay for a while. We have known eachother since the beginning of highschool and still hang. One time he took me to another gay guys house (friend of his) and they were arguing. Than his friend asked him if he was top or bottom... he looked at me, lowered his head and answered. I have no problem with Gays and Lesbians. I love the Gay Village in Toronto and the Pride Parade. I fight for my Gay and Lesbian friends. This was 4 months ago and now he won't say anything about it or won't even tell me he is gay. When some one brings up the topic he looks moody and get quiet. I thought we were good friends? why won't he tell me? why didn't he tell me if everyone in the room already knew? I am throwing out hints that I won't judge and I am cool with it. I feel so hurt... I would do anything for him to ease the discomfort... HELP

I've been reading a lot lately about religion and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I have very unique beliefs and haven't been able to find a christian denomination that agrees with all of my views. Would I be better off just developing a one on one relationship with God and/or go to a non denominational christian church? Or is there a way to determine which denomination most suits my beliefs and view on life.

if christians still ask for forigivness and repetance, then what was the point of Jesus crucifiction?

when we say Jesus die for everyone sins we are putting the bad people, criminals, and good people in one equal line. let's not say things about God except with the truth. God all merciful all powerful he forgave before and will forgive after, no one need to die so God forgive people sins, everyone responsible for his deeds. heaven is not for free without real work and try your best to follow God words.

Considering how long it can take the courts to convict someone of rape and/or incest (not counting the appeals), wouldn't a woman/girl made pregnant by those means have already delivered by the time the perpetrator is convicted?

After all, you're not going to want to let anyone have an abortion just because she says she was raped. And while there may be a lot of evidence of a rape, it isn't officially a rape until a court of law declares it was.

And by that time, the pregnancy has come to term and no abortion is possible.

So when you offer rape and incest as exceptions, aren't you chuckling up your sleeve because you know no one will get that exception because no one can be convicted of rape and/or incest in time for an aborton to occur?
