In the New Testament, nine of the Ten Commandments were repeated (Mark 10:19, Luke 18:20, Rom. 13:9). The only commandment not repeated was to "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Ex. 20:8).

The early Christians met on the first day of the week (Matt. 28:1, Mark 16:2,9, Luke 24:1, John 20:1, 19, Acts 20:7, I Cor. 16:2) probably because,
1) Sunday was the day of the Lord's resurrection,
2) the six post resurrection appearances were on Sunday, and
3) the Holy Spirit came on Sunday.

Rev. 1:10 called Sunday the Lord's Day. And, in scripture, the number eight is always used to mean "new beginning," i.e. -- eight people on the Ark, etc.

But more than anything, it's not what day you choose to rest that concerns God, it's why you do it in the first place (I Sam. 16:7).

Forgive my tone, I mean no disrespect. Show me where it specifically says Saturday is The Sabbath. It doesn't. Those Romans were much more smarter than most of us today can ever imagine. Have you ever studied the Roman Empire? The Bible simply says the 7th day or Sabbath. I never says Saturday and especially in the Hebrew text it doesn't. You ever hear of a man named Dionysus? He was a Catholic munk that changed the Roman dating system to the system we have today. About 1400 years ago he formulated a date of the Birth of Christ and the Roman Empire bought of on it and they restructured the calender for the ENTIRE WORLD. So instead of it being the 10th Century of the Roman Empyre it became the 500's AD because of the new formula for the Birth of Christ. Everything about time and dating changed then. The days of the week were changed to the modern names we know it to be. Yes the Sunday was given the name "Lords Day" at that time also. I myself believe before this, and especially in the Hebrew culture, Saturday may have never been the Sabbath. It could have been something like Thursday as the Sabbath. I am probably way off but the fact is that everything we know about the calender dating system is a product of old Dionysus.

The old testament mentions a "day of rest" in Genesis, after God created the world. We were then asked to honor and keep the sabbath holy, also in the Old Testament. Since, Sunday comes at the end of the week, we use Sunday to honor the sabbath. Are you sure you thought through this question before posting it?

very good question.. I asked a similar one a while back. The catholic catechism says that saturday is the 7th day, but the catholic church changed it. I have studied the BIBLE on this subject and cannot see a reason to change, but to uplift the true day of worship. The LORD in the old testament said the Sabbath day is how HE sanctifies us. sets us apart. It also says in Revelation that the SAINTS OF GOD will keep the commandments of GOD and have the testimony of JESUS. In Revelation 19-10 it says that the testimony of JESUS is the spirit of prophecy. So to understand GOD'S truth you have to have the HOLY SPIRIT to know the spiritual meanings in THE WORD OF GOD. To klnow HIS truth and not the commandments of men, is the greatest challenge before us in our society today. the reason sunday is so popular, is that christians like to claim the 1st day as a day of worship because JESUS rose from the grave on the 1st day, aletr called sunday, because it is also a pagan holiday to worship the sun. Constantine, the roman emporer declared both days as religious holidays. but the Sabbath faded in popularity, until the sabbath movement was brought to popularity again in the 1840's. there are Baptists, Assembly of GOD, and Mormons, and Meninites, and nondenominational christians, Sabbatarians, and Born again Jews called Messianic Jews, all of these worship on the Sabbath. You will find a group called Seventh-day Adventists as well.

It originated in the Catholic Church, the belive that the Bible says it should be changed like right after Jesus died, but the Bible NEVER says that, there are still some Christian Churches that worship on the Sabbath, Saterday, like the Seventh Day Adventists.

I am a jew by blood but Christian by religion, The Christians celebrate mass on sunday because that is the day on which Jesus was resurected. I believe that even if the messiah rose from the dead on Sunday, modern Christians should celebrate mass on Saturday.

Emperor Constantine changed it to Sunday as a reminder of Christ's Resurrection.

When Constatine was converted, in order to get the pagan populace to also convert, the Sunday the day to honor the Sun gods was made to be sabbath for Christians. Once again, tell me ONE original thought for Christianity!

I am changing my answer because I worded it wrong... It says "last day of the week" or something similar in the Bible. When the world was created, they rested on the seventh or last day of the week. In Bible times, Sunday was the last day of the week until the Romans messed it up.
