Proverbs
"Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding"

I found this on in the profile of "christians are the worlds judges" when I decided to have a look there after he posted two very abusive questions.

It would seem to me, that gaining wisdom and understanding involves listening to others and seeking out knowledge rather than deciding that one particular group has the right to declare itself judge over humanity.

Does it mean you should gain broad knowledge, or is there something hidden in there saying that you should only read the bible or texts that are supportive of its fiction?

I've been seeing a man for about three months. He's a single dad with two teenage kids. I was thinking about buying him a small token for Father's Day.

I think it would mean a lot to him because so far in the relationship he's the one that wants commitment and a serious relationship. He even wants me to meet his kids but I told him that I'm not ready for that.

What do you think?

I have seen many Christians say that catholics are not Christian because they believe in Purgatory and pray to mary and the saints.

What do Catholics say about Christians who do NOT believe in Purgatory or do Not pray to Mary and the saints?

He is my Lord and Messiah now-yet once he was just part of a religion to me.
I am born Jewish and I once trusted religion to save me, then money, then my lust and lies, but finally the truth broke through that Jesus truely loved me unconditionally and was the one promised in the Jewish Scriptures=he was already born at the perfect time to a virgin (Isaiah 7:14 a miracle sign a virgin will be with child who is God with us=imanuel in Hebrew)
He had to come before the temple was destroyed -which had the last way to point to Jesus in the temple blood sacrifice to cover our sins. Leviticus 17:11 -all the way back to Adam when God slew a animal to cover their sins and clothe them pubicly.

this is how I know this is true and know Jesus as my savior and best friend

As a Jew I prayed "Jesus thanks for dying for my sins and offering to come into my heart and be my friend, I am sorry please forgive my sins, come into my heart and be my friend, amen.
Who is Jesus to you-Liar or Messiah?

And that this might be what outer darkness is or a place of knashing of teeth (temporal)?

Since there are distinct different places described in the bible, like hell fire. Gehenna fire. A place where sin of sacrificing children through fire to devils. These go to Gehenna fire (hell). A description of death & hell fire, not the lake of fire/2nd death.

Purgatory is a short (maybe difficult) experience, then they go to heaven for their rewards?

Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Did you surrender your full life to Jesus? Affirming Jesus is Lord is central to our salvation. Saying "Jesus is Lord" has two basic types of meaning. One is our relationship to Jesus; the other is who Jesus really is. One way I sum up the two meanings is: Jesus is my master. Jesus is my God. Just believe in Jesus is not enough. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! (James 2:19) "Jesus is Lord" means also my master. One I should obey and has power over me. Receiving Jesus as Lord means that my constant overriding goal should be to be to obey him. Nothing else should matter. I know my life is not always focused on Jesus. Our whole being is to be focused on our Lord. If it is not -- when it is not -- the biblical call is to repent; change -- transform -- our minds until our whole life is focused on Jesus Christ.

The remaining Essenes, Ebionites, Nasoreans, Theraputae, Gnostics and Pythagoreans, wouldn't that make the Christian Church the Anti-Christ?

They seem to have done everything imaginable to destroy the groups who shared any similarity to the original Jewish Church so they could follow their real Messiah, Saul of Tarsus.

I wonder if Saul / Paul is ever mentioned in a derogatory light in any early Christian texts.

Most westerners ( myself included ) live in a society where the size of ones bank account, living in the 'right' neighborhood, having the prestigious job, and owing lots of luxury goods bestows an instant
immediate respect on individuals. No questions asked.
Even if that person is an unbearable *ss. without any other redeeming qualities.
Do we not as a society blindly embrace Consumerism ,at the expense of certain other very worthwhile activities.
Not to mention often at the expense of others.

From the first time I came here, I've been absolutely amazed by what the fundamentalists actually believe..........and how many of them there are.

The curiousity of how anyone could believe such stuff is what got me started with posting here.

Now I'm more concerned than curious.

But if the fundies weren't here, I'd probably spend far less time here as well.

Are the people who have opposite beliefs to your own what keep you coming here?
