And that this might be what outer darkness is or a place of knashing of teeth (temporal)?

Since there are distinct different places described in the bible, like hell fire. Gehenna fire. A place where sin of sacrificing children through fire to devils. These go to Gehenna fire (hell). A description of death & hell fire, not the lake of fire/2nd death.

Purgatory is a short (maybe difficult) experience, then they go to heaven for their rewards?

Purgatory/purgery are unscriptural. Going to a place of cleansing after death would nullify the death of Christ, saying that He died for only a few sins when He died for all.

Romans 5:18: "...by the righteousness of one (Jesus) the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life."

Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Ephesians 2:8: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

Romans 5:9: "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

John 5:24: "...He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

Romans 3:24: "...Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:"

Romans 8:1: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus..."

1 Corinthians 6:11: "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus..."

Titus 2:14: "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify onto himself a peculiar people..."

Hebrews 10:14: "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified."

1 John 1:7: "...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleans us from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Dear Lotta,

There is no such place as "purgatory." That is a false teaching that comes from the catholic church. The Bible tells us in Ezekiel 18:20, "The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

We have ALL sinned, that is every person has transgressed the law of God. The penalty for sin is eternal damnation. The only hope for a sinner is Christ the Lord to have mercy on him/her. If Christ did not pay for your sins then you will have to pay for them.

Please Google my sources for further info..

There is no such place as purgatory. The word is nowhere in the bible. This word was made up by man. When you die you have no more chances to make Jesus Lord and Savior, it will be too late then. The second death will be the white throne judgement for those who do not except Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Purgatory(as nonspacial&nontemporal)has always made logical and biblical sense to me (Matt 5:26). I think of Purgatory as in the imagery of the"Antelocus Patrum" ,the waiting and cleansing room and antechamber of Heaven or the "place" "harrowed"by Christ where the Patriarchs and Matriarchs of the OT awaited Him in the Byzantine Anastasis Icons.(1 Pet3:18-20,4:6 where Christ "preaches" to the dead of the "imprisoned spirits" who need to know the power of the fullGospel)
I also think of Purgatory/Purgation in the fire of 1Cor 3:15

No.

There is no mention of purgatory in the Scriptures.

The Scriptures teach that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins.

So when a real Christian dies, he or she goes immediately into the presence of Christ.

All of the historical teaching about purgatory is from man made commentaries about the Bible and not the Bible itself. The Bible itself teaches against the concept of a "purgatory".

If anyone needed to spend time in a "purgatory", if it existed, it would have been that thief on the cross. Jesus did not tell him that he would be in purgatory. Jesus said, "Today you will be with me in paradise".

Purgatory has often been used by evil religions to extract money from the people. "Give money to our church and you can get out of purgatory, or we'll get your Uncle Charlie out of purgatory early."

There is no purgatory.

A person cannot both glory in the cross while at the same time diparage it.

You need to ask yourself...

Was Jesus' death on the cross sufficient to atone for my sins or not?

NO

Jesus said in this life you will be tested

Jesus says after death -to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. this is how I came to KNow Jesus and that his testing is in this life=he was already born at the perfect time to a virgin (Isaiah 7:14 a miracle sign a virgin will be with child who is God with us=imanuel in Hebrew)
He had to come before the temple was destroyed -which had the last way to point to Jesus in the temple blood sacrifice to cover our sins. Leviticus 17:11 -all the way back to Adam when God slew a animal to cover their sins and clothe them pubicly.

this is how I know this is true and know Jesus as my savior and best friend

As a Jew I prayed "Jesus thanks for dying for my sins and offering to come into my heart and be my friend, I am sorry please forgive my sins, come into my heart and be my friend, amen."

He PROMISED this "I love you and knock on your heart door to come in and forgive your sins and be your friend when you ask me in repenting quickly for your sins." Revelation 3:19&20

Jesus stated "I am the way the truth, and the life, no one comes unto heaven, but by me." John 14:6

Daniel in the Jewish scriptures teaches "To those that go to the grave, Hell is abhorance apart from God forever, Heaven is everlasting life."

Jesus taught about it in Mathew 24 as weeping forever with gnashing teeth for rejecting His salvation. and in Revelation 19-22 IN this 22nd chapter he also says to the writers of books after the bible "If you add to my word you will recieve plagues to your life."

Since I have come to know Jesus as my savior Messiah, and best friend-I have that joy and assurance, he corrects me when i think wrong and helps me to help others, not to reject him and think my own blood will atone for my sins-If you have sin you cant forgive sin with your own impurites. As Isaiah teaches too Isaiah 52:13-53:12 "He will die for our sins and then see his seed and prosper"

He came at the perfect time-if he was born now-for 2,000 years since 70 bce when the temple was destroyed, because he fulfilled the temple blood atonement as ordered (Leviticus 17:11) to cover sins and point to Jesus the Messiah our forgiveness of sins.

Publicly-there is a difference-Now Jesus is my Messiah, savior and best friend-

praying the best for you too,--Jesus does come spiritually every day to be our friend-and he will return from heaven this time-Acts 1:11 with pierce marks and my Jewish people will mourn as a mother for her only lost child (Zechariah 12:10).

Best wishes my friend, David and Purgatory isnt found in the bible-it is in another book which is claimed to be between the new and old testaments -so that people could pay to get people out of a place that doesnt exist.
